Chouity Pounds a Double

We didn't see how the money got it, but we're assuming the money went in on the {4-Spades} {7-Spades} {8-Hearts} flop. However it went down, Nicolas Chouity was at risk for his last 39,100 with {K-Spades} {J-Spades}. Alex Anter put him to the test with the {J-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, but he could not hold. The {10-Spades} turn locked up the double for the EPT6 Grand Final champion, and he's moved up to about 90,000.

Just Before the Break...

We heard news of Todd Terry's demise. He had cold four-bet shoved with pocket queens, but the three-bettor had him crushed with two aces. The board ran out blanks, and Terry could only scowl as he scurried out the door.

The Lady's Ladies

Melanie Weisner on Day 1b
Melanie Weisner on Day 1b

Javier Rojas Mederos came into the pot raising to 1,700, and Melanie Weisner flatted from across the table. Next to her, Nick Yunis squeezed in a reraise to 5,200, but Rojas came right back with another raise to 13,300 total. Weisner got sneaky now with a reraise of her own — all in for just less than 60,000. Rojas called out of turn (oops!), but Yunis called all in anyways, and Rojas re-called with both players covered.

Showdown
Rojas: {K-} {K-}
Weisner: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}
Yunis: {K-} {K-}

It was no fun for Weisner, but the news would improve in a hurry. The dealer burned a card and turned the flop face-up with the {Q-Diamonds} glowing right in the window. Cue the astonished reaction from everyone at the table, including Weisner. The {Q-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} flop left one opponent drawing dead and the other needing a runner-runner flush.

The turn and river were the {7-Spades} and {2-Hearts}, and Weisner's come-from-behind set earns her a near triple-up. She's all the way up to 165,000 now, eliminating Yunis and taking the bulk of Rojas' chips in the process.

Surival of the Fittest and These Guys Couldn't Last the Pace

Gent-leman

Paul Berende was dwelling, in the small blind, he was facing a 6,500 bet from David Gent on the turn of a {K-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{A-Hearts} board and was deciding upon his action before finally electing to just call.

The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Berende now moved all in for 23,200 and Gent instantly called with {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} but the Dutchman had backdoored into a straight with {J-Spades}{10-Spades} for the double up.

Moreira de Melo de Busto

Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

Fatima Moreira de Melo is out after getting (accidentally) slow-rolled by Anton Kraous.

She open shoved her remaining 12,200 from the hijack and the Bulgarian called from the small blind. Moreira de Melo tabled {a-Hearts}{8-Spades} but Kraous just sat there, cards faced down.

"You want to see the flop first? asked the Team PokerStars SportStar.

Kraous looked surprised as if he hadn't realised it was an all-in, and then table {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Moreira de Melo wished everyone luck and made her exit.
