Mercier Eliminated

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

After a raise to 1,800 from Torsten Brinkmann out of the hijack seat, play folded to Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier in the big blind. He reraised all in for 17,100. Brinkmann took a minute, then called with the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}. Mercier held the {10-Spades}{9-Spades}.

On the {Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop, Brinkmann added a pair of jacks while Mercier picked up an open-ended straight draw.

The turn was the {4-Hearts} and river the {A-Spades}. Both missed Mercier, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier raised to 1,200 on the button, and the big blind made the call.

The flop came down {8-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, and action checked to Mercier. He bet 1,100, and his opponent called.

The turn went check, check after the {3-Hearts} landed. The river then completed the board with the {A-Hearts}. The big blind led for 2,850, and Mercier called.

The big blind showed the {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a pair of eights. Mercier showed the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for a ten-high flush, and he won the pot.

Romanello Climbing Back

Roberto Romanello let us know abot a recent hand that happened to knock him down to about 10,000 in chips. It's a situation he seemed a bit familiar with as a similar thing happened in the Main Event a couple days ago on Day 1.

Kristijonas Andrulis had opened, Romanello three-bet, and then Benny Spindler reraised with a four-bet. After Andrulis folded, Romanello five-bet. Spindler six-bet all in, and Romanello called with two kings. Spindler held {A-}{7-}, and he spiked an ace on the flop to win the pot.

That knocked Romanello down to 10,000 in chips, and that's where he has been grinding away. Currently, Romanello sits on about 14,000.

Quoss Rivered

From middle position, Jason Mercier raised to 1,200. The player in the cutoff seat called, then Fabian Quoss called from the small blind. From there, the three players saw the flop come down {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and action checked around.

The turn was the {J-Spades}, and Quoss bet out 2,500. Mercier folded, but the cutoff seat made the call to see the {10-Hearts} land on the river. It was here that Quoss bet 6,000, and his opponent called.

Quoss showed the {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, but his opponent had rivered a better pair with the {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to win the pot.

Metaal Shining Early

Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal is doing very well here in the €10,000 High Roller as he's up to roughly 150,000 in chips. Metaal informed a fellow reporter of a big hand he played earlier in the tournament where he was able to double up big through Michael Tureniec with two kings. Here's what happened.

A player raised to 700, and Metaal called with two kings. Another player called behind, then the button made it 2,250 to go. Tureniec reraised to 5,200 from the small blind, and action folded back to Metaal. He reraised to 8,500. Play folded back to Tureniec, and he made it 13,000 to go. Metaal then bumped things to 20,000 before Tureniec went all in. Metaal called, and his kings were up against the {A-}{10-} for Tureniec. The kings held and Metaal won an early big pot.
