Barbosa was in desperate need of some help, but the flop brought none. The turn was a blank as well, and Barbosa needed one of the two remaining tens on the river to star alive. The dealer burned one last time and out out the , putting an end to Barbosa's tournament just shy of the first dinner break.
Mohsin Charania and Sam Chartier both hung around to the river in heads up pots, and it was at that juncture that they admitted defeat.
Charania opened to 400 from mid position and called when Roberto Vaira three-bet to 1,100 from the cut-off. The board ran out and the EPT Grand Final champ check-called bets of 1,500 and 3,000. He checked for a third time on the river and folded when faced with a 6,000 bet. He's getting very short now.
Chartier had similar river problem. He and Andrey Bondar both committed 3,200 pre flop to see a flop appear. Chartier led for 2,600 and was called. They checked through the turn before the Canadian check-folded to a 6,000 bet from Bondar on the river.
On a board, a player checked to Scott Seiver and he fired 4,000. Seiver's opponent called and the hit the river. Seiver's opponent checked and he fired out 9,000.
"Save yourself the heartbreak," Seiver said. "It's a long tournament. Put those chips to better use somewhere else. You don't have to call if you know you're beat. If you call and win it's whatever, but if you call and lose you'll be mad at yourself the whole dinner break."
Eventually, Seiver's talking induced his opponent to call with . Seiver showed for an ace-high flush and scooped up the pot.
Bulgarian PokerStars qualifier Grudi Hristov Grudev raised to 525 from under the gun, action folded to the Frenchman Fabrice Soulier in the middle position and he made the call.
The flop went . The Bulgarian checked, Saulier bet 750 and Grudev called. The dealer opened on the turn and the Frenchman lead again, this time putting in 2,150. Grudev check-called once again.
The river card was and Soulier fired 4,200. The Bulgarian showed courage and check-raised to 10,000. Soulier folded and Grudev collected the big pot.
When we arrived at the table on the flop, Kevin Iacofano had 4,000 in front of him over the top of Andrei Stoenescu's 1,300. After some tanking, Stoenescu reraised all in for 13,525. Iacofano called with the for top pair, but was well behind the for Stoenescu.

Aleksis Tsaousidis and Jason Wheeler saw the flop in a three-bet pot. Tsaousidis was up first and bet 3,500. Wheeler tanked, then raised to 7,600. Tsaousidis came back with a reraise to 13,500, and Wheeler gave it up.
