We saw a dejected-looking Max Pescatori stand up and pay his massage therapist. We made our way over to discover that our suspicions were true, the "Italian Pirate" had been eliminated from the tournament. We didn't catch the hand as the dealer had already mucked the cards, but we do know that Pescatori's fellow Italian Erion Islamay did the deed.
With 7,000 already in the pot and three players in the hand the dealer opened on the flop. Romanian player Gheorghe Gradinaru bet 3,300 and German Martin Finger called. The third player still in the hand was Russia's Mikhail Korotkikh who instantly shoved his entire stack.
Gradinaru snap-called while Finger needed some time to think before laying down his cards. Korotkikh showed and Gradinaru had him covered holding . The on the turn and on the river bricked for the Russian and he hit the rail.
Jason Lavallee and Joe Kuether have tangled more than once today, and the former is getting the better of the duel.
Lavallee opened to 700 from early position and was called by Kuether in late position and the small blind player. Lavallee then went on to empty the clip with bets of 800, 2,600 and 6,500 on a board.
The small blind folded on the flop but Kuether stuck around to the river where he tank-folded to leave himself with 11,200.
We're not sure of the preflop action but we do know Joe Kuether got all in preflop and was at risk against Morten Christensen.
Showdown
Kuether:
Christensen:
Christensen had Kuether crushed, but all that changed when the flop came down . Kuether spiked a queen to take the lead and leave Christensen, who had just 500 behind, in dire straits. The turn meant Christensen needed a king on the river to stay alive, but it was not meant to be as the peeled off.
Chady El OJeil raised to 625 from under the gun and was called by Claes Nilsson on his immediate left. Victor Ramdin, however wanted to spice things up a little and re-raised to 1,375 in the middle position. Both El OJei and Nilsson called and they went three-way into the flop.
The dealer flipped . El OJei and Nilsson checked and Ramdin fired again for 2,075. El OJei folded and Nilsson made the call. The on the river was followed by a 5,000 bet from Ramdin which was too big for Nilsson and he mucked his hand.
With 2,000 in the pot and a flop of , Sam Chartier checked from the big blind and Joe Hachem bet 1,100. Chartier made the call and then checked the river. Hachem didn't slow down and fired out 3,125, which proved enough to win the pot as Chartier send his cards to the muck.
Meanwhile Morten Christensen, who was left with just 500 after doubling Joe Kuether, has been eliminated from the tournament.
