Vasilyev Runs Into The Nuts

Sergey Vasilyev has been eliminated from the Main Event after running into the nuts on the flop.

The chips went flying in on a {7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop, Vasilyev holding {A-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for an open-ended straight, but he was in heaps of trouble as Lukas Roczniac was sat their with {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and had flopped the nuts.

The turn and river were the {k-Clubs} and {q-Spades} respectively, and with that Vasilyev said his goodbyes and headed for the exits.

Minimum Silver

A preflop raising war saw Max Silver get his stack of around 33,000 all in preflop, but he discovered he was in bad shape against Andras Nemeth.

Showdown
Nemeth: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Silver: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Silver only had a 23.69% chance of winning the hand, which meant Nemeth was a 71.72% favorite. Upon first glance, the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts} flop looked kind to Silver as it paired his queen, but he quickly noticed that Nemeth flopped Broadway and had increased his chanceto 84.55% of winning.

The {5-Spades} left Silver looking for a king on the river to chop, but there was just a 6.82% chance of that happening. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {J-Diamonds}, which was the last card Silver would see in the EPT9 Prague Main Event.

Hairabedian Runs into a Set

Roger Hairabedian and Ronny Schimpf were heads up on a board of {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. Schimpf checked to Hairabedian, who fired 7,000 into a pot of around 17,000. Schimpf check-raised all in for around 30,000, and Hairabedia threw his hands in the air.

He eventually committed enough chips to call, and turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for a pair of kings. Schimpf had him crushed however, revealing {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a set of queens.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board, and Schimpf doubled to around 75,000 chips. Hairabedian dropped to around 17,000.

Shorr Shooting Up The Counts

Shannon Shorr's climb up the chip counts continues; he now has 43,000 chips.

On a {j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Shorr bet 1,200 into his two opponents. James Carroll folded in the hijack, but Bulgarian pro Simeon Naydenov called from the cutoff. The dealer burned a card before placing the {j-Spades} on the felt for the players to ponder over. Shorr made it 4,300 to play and Naydenov had seen enough and sent his cards back to the dealer.

Brammer Approaching 100k

Chris Brammer is almost through the 100,000 chip barrier and is definitely a force again in this tournament.

The UK's number one ranked online tournament player three-bet an UTG+1 open of 1,100 from Rasmus Agerskov to 2,800, whcih cleared out the field. Agerskov called and he and Brammer saw the flop come down {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Agerskov checked to Brammer and then called when Brammer bet 2,800. That was the last of the betting action though, as the pair checked the {j-Hearts} turn and the {10-Clubs} river, Brammer scooping the pot with his {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

We have Mat "one T" Frankland to thank for an insight into how Brammer accumulated his large stack. Apparently, "he got it in bad with jacks against aces and caught a third knave."

And that ladies and gentlemen is how you build stacks. Tune in this time next week for the next installment of our strategy insights where we will introduce you to the world of rivering full houses to beat flushes.

Khalifa's Double KO

Moments ago, Jonathan Khalifash shot up out of his chair, and shouted. The shout was a mix of disbelief and celebration, culminating with a high five or two with his friends.

When we reached the table to check out what happened, we saw that the board read {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs}, and Khalifash had {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds} sitting in front of him. According to one of our French colleagues, Khalifash and two other players were all in on the flop. One player had {7-}{7-}, and the other had {a-}{j-}.

The case jack on the river gave Khalifash jacks full of nines, and eliminated both of his opponents from the EPT Prague Main Event. Khalifash now has 115,000 chips.

Eddie on the Button, on the Case

John "Eddie" Eames is up to around 70,000 chips after playing a three-bet pot successfully in position.

Philip Junghuber opened from early position and was called by Jason Wheeler in mid position and Eames on the button. Ankush Mandavia was in the small blind and squeezed to 3,600. All but Eames folded before an {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop fanned across the table.

Mandavia led for 2,550. Call. The turn was {5-Diamonds} and Mandavia fired for 6,500. Call. Mandavia slowed to a check on the {q-Spades} river and after some thought Eames set his opponent all in for his remaining 46,000. Mandavia snap folded and Eames showed a {6-Hearts}.
