Busquet Comes to Life

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Olivier Busquet
Olivier Busquet

The three most active players at the table so far have been Vanessa Selbst, Ivan Soshnikov and Dmitry Yurasov. Nothing too surprising there considering their reputations not to mention the amount of chips they have. Towards the end of this level however Olivier Busquet sprang to life and got involved in a few pots.

Busquet opened for 50,000 and found a caller in Yurasov. The blinds folded and they saw a flop of {3-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Busquet continued for 75,000 and although Yurasov thought for a while, he released his hand and Busquest took the pot. The next hand Busquet opened for 50,000 and took it down uncontested.

Next hand Ivan Soshnikov opened for 52,000 on the button and when Thomas Muhlocker folded Busquet called in the big blind. Flop of {9-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}, check from Busquet who then called a 100,000 bet from Soshnikov. Turn card {8-Spades} which they both checked and saw the river card {8-Clubs}. Busquet led for 125,000 and Soshnikov mucked his hand.

Jeff Rossiter Eliminated in 9th Place (€38,650)

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante
Jeff Rossiter - 9th Place
Jeff Rossiter - 9th Place

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst opened for 52,000 from middle position and was met by a three-bet to 135,000 by Jeff Rossiter in the small blind. The big folded, Selbst called, and it was heads-up action to the {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop. Rossiter fired out 170,000 and then snap-called off for approximately 500,000 when Selbst announced that she was all in.

Rossiter: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Selbst: {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Selbst winced a bit upon discovering she held the inferior kicker, but shortly thereafter the dealer burned and turned the {J-Clubs} to give her a straight. Rossiter could only shake his head and watched helplessly as the {J-Diamonds} blanked on the river.

"Sorry," Selbst offered Rossiter, who took home €38,650 for his ninth-place finish. It was no doubt a disappointing end to the tournament, but it's yet another score in a year where Rossiter has amassed more than $3.7 million in winnings.

Pot to Selbst

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Dmitry Yurasov and Vanessa Selbst have tangled in a few pots since the final 9 table has formed with honours just about even so far. Here’s one that just happened. Yurasov raised from the button, Heinzelmann folded the small blind and Selbst made the call in the big blind. With a flop of {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} Selbst chose to lead for a bet of 52,000 and faced a raise from Yurasov to 137,000. Selbst gave it some thought and made the call. Turn card {4-Hearts} was checked by both players and they saw a river card {7-Diamonds}. Selbst thought for a short while and checked as did Yurasov who mucked his cards when Selbst showed him the {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and Khoroshenin hit a runner-runner flush to triple once again.

Khoroshenin More Than Triples

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Oleksii Khoroshenin
Oleksii Khoroshenin

Ivan Soshnikov opened for 42,000 under the gun and Jeff Rossiter called from the cutoff. Oleksii Khoroshenin then called off for 10,000 from the button and both blinds folded. When the flop fell {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Soshnikov checked, Rossiter bet 65,000, and Soshnikov folded.

Rossiter: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Khoroshenin: {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}

Rossiter was ahead with the big pocket pair, but Khoroshenin held a pair with a flush draw. The {8-Spades} turn was no consequence, but the {4-Spades} river was as Khoroshenin spiked trips to more than triple.
