Dalimore Dallies to Salvatore's Ship

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Mark Dalimore, an Irishman who has lived in the Czech Republic for the past 20 years, is a player that I've had the chance to observe closely over the last few days as he finished fifth in the Eureka Poker Tour Main Event. Deep in that event he 'misclicked' three times. On all three occasions he claims that he meant to call but put out an amount of chips that were greater than the bet he faced but not enough to constitute a legal raise, although on all occasions it was at least 50% of the legal raise so it went as a min-raise.

I'm not suggesting he was angling, indeed on one occasion he showed {5-}{2-} at showdown when this happened, but it happens frequently and he was at it once more in a pot against Salvatore Bonavena. I joined the action to see a board of {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Diamonds} on the felt, Bonavena bet 4,050 and Dalimore put out 6,600. Given it was over half the legal raise it went as a min-raise and it wasn't entirely clear whether Dalimore meant to call or raise in this instance. It mattered not to Bonanvena as he moved all-in for 38,000.

Dalimore then started talking out loud, "I can't fold, I've been unlucky here I think," he stated. "I'm getting over two to one," he continued. "Do I care? Yes I do," he said more to himself than anyone else. By now seat nine and seat six had heard enough and convinced he was folding they stood up to have a chat away from the table. And Dalimore did fold, although it took him another two minutes to reach that decision.

Seth Leaves ‘Em Seething

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

A seemingly convincing but unsuccessful bluff from Nikolai Chebotarev against American PokerStars player Anirudh Seth has left his frustrated and running low on a stack of 6,000 chips.

The next hand Markus Ross, a qualifier from Germany, opened for 500 and Chebotarev made the call. Seth spotted an opportunity and raised to 12,250. He was right as first Ross folded and then Chebotarev let his hand go to wait for a better spot.

Haxton Loses Some

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Haxton raised it up to 600 under-the-gun plus one and received calls from Kuljinder Sidhu on the button and the player in the big blind. Sidhu called again after Haxton had continuation-bet 1,100 on {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Thr turn was the {J-Diamonds} and Haxton now bet 2,500, Sidhu called for a third time. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Haxton shoved, putting Sidhu allin effectively for about 4,500. Sidhu made the call and Haxton showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} with a glance of hope on his face. The glance was gone and made room for some despair as Sidhu tabled his {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for rivered trips.

Schemion Empties The Clip

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Ole Schemion is up to 53,000 after firing on every street against Slobodan Ruzicic. It was actually the Serb who was the pre-flop raiser, he made it 400 to play and Schemion smooth called. On the {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop Ruzicic continuation-bet 500, Schemion raised it to 1,800 and Ruzicic made the call.

The {6-Clubs} fell on the turn, Schemion bet 3,400 and after some thought Ruzicic once again smooth called. The {A-Diamonds} completed the board, Schemion bet 8,200 and Ruzicic ruefully folded his hand.

Floor!

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

“Floor,” called the player facing a bet on the river from Russia’s Gaik Karabakhtcian on a board reading {2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. When the floor arrived the dealer explained what happened. Karabakhtcian had announced a bet with a blue T5000 chip in his hand, said “four,” and tossed it across the line. The floor responded, “Ok, I’m going to rule that as a bet of four hundred.” Karabakhtcian was surprised by the ruling but when his opponent tossed the 400 into a pot worth several thousand he was at least relieved to see his {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} was good enough to win as his opponent mucked.

There are a lot of rules in live tournament poker and it pays to know them as bet you can.

Roy Takes a Hit

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Former World Poker Tour Montreal winner Jonathan Roy got off to a hot start here on Day 1b, but he's seemed to have cooled off a bit.

With 1,300 in the pot and a flop of {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, Valeri Savov bet 600 from the under-the-gun position only to have Roy raise to 1,700. Savov made the call and then proceeded to check-call a bet of 2,600 on the {3-Hearts} turn. When the {2-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Savov checked for a second time and Roy thought a moment before dropping in enough chips to put his opponent at risk.

Savov couldn't get his last 7,850 fast enough and showed the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for a rivered full house. Roy flipped over the {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a losing flush and promptly paid his opponent.
