Raigo Aasmaa raised it up preflop and fourbet allin after Sam Cohen had reraised him. Cohen quickly called for 13,200 total and a showdown was at hand. Aasmaa showed his and almost simultaneously Cohen tabled . A standard coinflip again this tournament and this time Cohen would triumph. The hit the flop, accompanied by the and . The on the turn and on the river were complete blanks and Cohen was back to starting stack.
It’s the last level before the dinner break, about an hour to go. A few notable are on sub 10,000 stacks or even less. Dario Minieri, Liv Boeree and David Vamplew are a few of the notables who are in desperate need of a bit of luck and a double up but they are unlikely to throw away their tournament life on a reckless gamble and will wait for what they perceive as the right spot. It’s not just the big names who have this sense though. Oliver Frey from Germany opened for 1,000 out of a stack of just over 11,000. When countryman Michael Gross moved in from the big blind for 13,500 he seemed to want to make the call btu finally laid down what seemed must have been a reasonably big hand. Perhaps just not big enough for his life.
Luca Pagano holds the record for the most cashes in EPT Main Events and he's going the right way about getting another cash here in Prague as he just won a chunky pot against Dario Sammartino.
It was an all Italian affair as Sammartino opened to 700 from middle position and Pagano called from the big blind. The flop was checked through and the hit the turn. Pagano checked, Sammartino bet 850, Pagano check-raised to 2,150 and Sammartino made the call.
The fell on fifth street, Pagano bet 4,000 and it didn't take Sammartino too long to call, Pagano showed for the flopped straight and Sammartino mucked. Pagano is up 66,000 whilst Sammartino drops to 49,000
I didn't catch it first hand but Chris Moorman was kind enough to tell me how Roger Hairabedian busted. The Frenchman ran ace-king into the pocket aces of Dario Sammartino. As a result Sammartino is up to 56,000.
A curious multi-way pot just played out on table 26 it involved Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and it reached the river.
The Frenchman opened to 650 from under-the-gun and picked up four callers including both blinds. On the flop the small blind - Maroun Jazzar - bet 300 into a pot of 3,450, ElkY was having none of it, he raised it up to 1,300, two seats along Bogdan Ana called and when it got back to Jazzar he did likewise.
The three of them saw the land on the turn to keep the board monotone, it checked through and the completed the board. Jazzar checked to ElkY, he fired out 2,000, Ana bumped it to 6,000 and both Jazzar and ElkY folded.
Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov has become a lot more active since the antes kicked in and is frequently opening pots now. Two we recently witnessed went down as follows
Katchalov opened for 700 from early position and was called on the button by Russian Viacheslav Goryachev. The blinds folded and the dealer put out a flop of . A bet of 800 from Katchalov saw the pot slid his way. The next hand Katchalov opened again for 700, Goryachev was again a caller and Samuel Panzica came along from the big blind. A flop of . Panzica checked, Katchalov checked and Viacheslav now bet 1,200. That did the job and it was his turn to add to his pile.
Andreja Klasovic moved all in on the flop of and was called by Peruvian Antonio Lafosse who had him well covered. Klasovic had for top pair but was out kicked by the of Lafosse. The turn and river bricked out and it was goodbye to the Serbian.
