What a Schmuck!

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

We missed the preflop action, but we do know Marco Schmuck was all in holding the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and racing against the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} of Javier Gomez Zapatero.

Schmuck seemed confident, but any hope he had went out the door when the {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop delivered Zapatero a set. The {5-Hearts} turn left Schmuck drawing dead, and after the {3-Hearts} was put out on the river, he took his leave from this Main Event.

Shorr Applies Pressure

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

With 16,000 in the pot and a board reading {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Hearts}, Shannon Shorr bet 15,000 from the big blind and turned the screws on his opponent, Yngve Steen, who was in middle position.

Steen only had 14,000 or so back, and he opted to preserve it by conceding the hand. Shorr collected the pot without a showdown.

Torbey Bests Kim

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Brian Kim
Brian Kim

Brian Kim raised from middle position to 850, and Jacques Torbey called from the small blind. Jamila Von Perger called from the big blind, and the flop came down {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades}. After Torbey and Perger checked, Kim bet 1,600. Torbey called quickly, and Perger folded.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, and Kim and Torbey checked. The river was the {8-Diamonds}, and both players checked again. Torbey showed the {J-Spades}{2-Spades} for a pair of jacks, and Kim mucked.

Scram, Adams

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Timothy Adams was all in for 16,200 on the {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Hearts} board against Elfad Mammadov. After some time in the tank, Mammadov made the call. Adams tabled the {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} for just king high, and Mammadov showed the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for top pair of tens. Mammadov's hand was best, and Adams was sent to the rail.

Bogdan Bogged Down

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

George Bogdan got his stack of 8,600 all in preflop and was in bad shape against Richard Milne.

Milne: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Bogdan: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Both players had a queen, but Milne's accompanying ace was well out in front of Bogdan's king. The {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop was dry for Bogdan, and the {a-Hearts} turn actually left him drawing dead by pairing Milne's ace. The meaningless {4-Diamonds} was put out on the river for good measure and Bogdan exited the tournament just shy of Level 7.

Action on Table Eight

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Richard Young is sitting on just 13,000 chips and doesn’t seem very interested in playing many hands at the moment but the other players at table eight, perhaps fired up by a restorative dinner break, are keen to play some poker. Here are a few hands PokerNews observed.

George Bogdan Ana opened for 1,025, Martin Finger called as did Richard Milne Snr in the big blind. We saw a flop of {3-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}. Ana bet 1,300 and Finger called, the big blind folded. A {2-Clubs} came on the turn. Ana continued for 2,000 and Finger bet enough to put Ana all in. A chastened Ana folded.

Einar Lindestad opened in the cut off for 950, Kjetil Hansen calle on the button as did the small blind Richard Milne Snr. The flop came {2-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Checked to Lindestad who bet 1,500 and folded when Hansen showed the {j-Clubs}.

It was a chance then for Gerard Alexander Livingston to get back in the action as he had just endured a penalty for leaving his seat while he had cards in front of him. Alexander Livingston opened under the gun for 800 and Livingston made the call. On a flop of {6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} Livingston check called a bet of 800. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn and this time Livingston check folded to a 1,700 bet.

Bad Beat for Izquierdo

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

A preflop raising war saw Pratik Ghatge get his healthy stack of 39,375 all in holding the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Unfortunately for him, his opponent, Francisco Izquierdo, had him dominated with the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Poker is a game of five cards, so it's not over until the river as Ghatge found out when the {q-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} gave him renewed life and the lead with a set of queens. Izquierdo was clearly disgusted and got up to leave after the {5-Clubs} was put out on the turn followed by the {4-Spades} river.

The stacks were counted down and Izquierdo actually had 10,000 left, so plenty to work with if he can overcome the bad beat.
