Biography

Brian Kim is an American poker player with one World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, who reached the final table of the 2024 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas. Kim finished seventh for $1,500,000.

Kim is well-known at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, the largest cardroom in the world. Although he has cashes dating back to October 2010, it wasn't until 2022 that Kim started to ramp up his MTT volume.

Having cashed in the 2018 and 2021 WSOP Main Events, Kim finished 23rd in the 2022 WSOP Main Event for $323,100. Later that year,Kim won a bracelet in a $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller Online event for $119,000.

In March 2023, Kim banked $928,000 from three final table appearances at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Vietnam. In May 2023, Kim followed the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series to Cyprus, where he won more than $1.1 million, including a $920,000 score for a runner-up finish in a $50,000 buy-in event.

More big scores followed when Triton Poker visited London in July 2023.

Now a regular on the Triton tour, Kim helped himself to a $954,000 score in Jeju in 2024 and a $609,000 prize in Montenegro just two months later.

Kim reached the final table of the 2024 WSOP Main Event with 94,600,000 chips, enough for second place. Despite starting in a lofty position, Kim busted on the 61st hand of the final table when Boris ANgelo raised to 4,600,000 at the 1,000,000/2,000,000 level. Kim three-bet to 11,800,000 from the small blind, only for Niklas Astedt to cold four-bet to 19,000,000 from the big blind. Angelov got out of the way, Kim five-bet all-in for 53,900,000, and Astedt called.

Astedt held pocket tens and Kim the king-six of clubs. Astedt flopped a set but Kim turned a flush draw. The river bricked, and Kim was gone in seventh place for $1,500,000.
