The final day of Event #23: $3,000 6-Handed Limit Hold’em at the 2022 World Series of Poker is over and Jeremy Ausmus finished first to take home the top prize of $142,147 and his fourth gold bracelet. He also joined an exclusive group of only 64 others who have four WSOP bracelets and he is now eligible for the WSOP Poker Hall of Fame.

This event started with 213 total entries for a total prize pool of $568,710 and there were just nine remaining on Day 3 to battle it out for the championship.

Ausmus was second in chips to start the day and had a strong stack throughout the day but the final table was volatile and there was a lot of back and forth with chips. There were a few moments where Ausmus was short stacked and even all in before he rose back up to beat the Day 2 chip leader, Michael Rocco and win the event.

When talking about the big swings he experienced on the final table, Ausmus said, “It’s just kind of the nature of limit, well poker in general but limit especially is very aggressive with a lot of three-betting and raising flops and raising turns- it’s very volatile and frustrating at times. But then I just ran good against Rocco who plays heads-up lots and the win feels good.”

Final Table Action

Nine players started the day and with Kevin Erickson getting knocked out early on and Shaun Deeb shortly after, they moved over to the unofficial 7-handed final table. Robert Como was the first one eliminated here to make it six-handed.

Former bracelet winner, Andrew Kelsall was the next one to be sent to the rail and although Mike Lancaster hit quad aces on Ausmus, that wasn’t enough to keep him in and he exited the tournament in fifth place.

With no dinner break scheduled, the remaining four traded chips back and forth for a while before Zachary Grech busted out with a bad beat from Rocco’s runner-runner full house over the flush that Grech flopped.

The third place finish went to Gabe Ramos who unluckily was up with jacks against Ausmus slow playing pocket aces.

Heads-Up Action

Going into heads-up play, Ausmus had a slight chip lead over Rocco and despite a few swings held it until he hit a huge hand and soared to the lead with almost all of the chips in play. Rocco was left with 330,000 after one particularly bad beat and the big moment came on the next hand when he got it all in with ace-seven and Ausmus took him out with king-five, hitting a straight on the river.

Congratulations to Jeremy Ausmus for winning his fourth bracelet in Event #23: $3,000 Limit Hold-em 6-Handed!

This concludes the PokerNews coverage of this event but keep tuning in to follow all of the exciting action throughout the rest of the the 2022 WSOP at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.
