Limping Works For De Zeeuw

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Olaf de Zeeuw had a little tangle with Benny Spindler and came out the better of the two.

The Dutchman limped from under the gun and was called by Spindler on the button and both blinds. The flop fell {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades} and De Zeeuw led for 425 before Spindler raised to 925. Both blinds folded and De Zeeuw made the call to see the {8-Diamonds} turn where both players checked.

Spindler called a 2,000 bet on the river but mucked upon seeing his opponent's {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a straight.

Igor Kurganov has been sat at this table table in seat eight, just to the right of Spindler and David Peters. Tough table!

Nine-High < Quad Three's

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

According to our crack photographer, Neil Stoddart, Philipp Gruissem has just been eliminated by Age Spets. Gruissem moved all in on a board of {3-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts}, and Spets instantly called.

"I have to call," he said. "I have the nuts."

True enough, the Norwegian turned over {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for quad threes. Gruissem wanted to muck, but he was forced to show {9-}{5-}.

The {a-Spades} completed the board, and the German was eliminated.

Ruthenberg Crippled by Jachtmann

Sebastian Ruthenberg Crippled

Jan-Peter Jachtmann opened the action with a raise to 800 from early position. A few seats later Gintaras Simaitis announced a three-bet all in for 5,525 total. It folded to Sebastian Ruthenberg in the small blind who took a moment before announcing a flat call.

Action was back on Jachtmann and he announced a four-bet all in over the top for 15,750 total. Ruthenberg called and the hands were tabled.

Ruthenberg: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Jachtmann: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Simaitis: {j-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

Jachtmann was way out in the lead with his pocket aces and it looked like trouble for Ruthenberg and Simaitis. The flop brought {K-Spades}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and paired Ruthenberg's king.

"It's coming!" Ruthenberg said with a smile.

Unfortunately for the Team Pro, his prediction was incorrect, as the turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and the river the {10-Hearts}.

Jachtmann was able to knock out a player and double up in the process to about 42,000. Simaitis, on the other hand, hit the rail while Ruthenberg was crippled to only about 4,000.

Last Longer?

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

German high roller Igor Kurganov has just arrived to take his seat. That meant he was guaranteed to last longer than...

Don't Bluff Victor Ramdin

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Victor Ramdin

Tom Alner just found this out and was left very short after the event.

The two had made it to the river of a {6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} board with 11,650 chips already committed to the pot. Alner bet 5,200 and Victor Ramdin tank-called with {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}. It was good as Alner could only muster {6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Alvarado Gives Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Birger Ohl opened to 700 from under the gun, Ana Marquez called in late position, JC Alvarado called on the button, and Valentin Pujol Such defended his big blind. The flop fell {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, Such checked, Ohl continued for 1,800, and Marquez called. Alvarado raised to 5,500 on the button, and only Ohl called.

The turn was the {q-Clubs}, both players checked, and the {8-Spades} completed the board. Ohl checked a second time, and after tanking for a minute or so, Alvardo tabled {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a missed flush draw. Ohl opened up {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for a pair of aces, and raked in the pot.

Mathis Picks One Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a flop of {7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, Rino Mathis checked over to Janne Nevalainen who fired out a bet of 1,225. Mathis thought for a moment before flat calling.

The {9-Diamonds} came on fourth street and Mathis checked for a second time. Nevalainen tapped the table this time around and the dealer brought forth the {9-Hearts} as the final card.

Mathis slid out a relatively small bet of 950. Nevalainen mulled over his decision for a bit before finally flinging out a call. Mathis rolled up {A-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and Nevalainen mucked his hand.
