GTL

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Arian Ghofrani Far just doubled up Sebastian Pauli which left him with just 56,000 chips. The board showed {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} when Pauli checked to Far who bet 40,000. Pauli moved all in for 118,000 and Far called after tanking for quite some time.

Arian Ghofrani Far: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Sebastian Pauli: {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Pauli secured a big double up. He's now back up around the average stack while Far needs a double up quickly to stay alive in this event.

Kenney Doubles Through Pantaleo

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Bryn Kenney was all in before the flop for his last 46,000. Giuseppe Pantaleo three-bet all in over the top and the rest of the table released.

Kenney showed {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and was in need of help against Pantaleo's {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The board came down {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Kenney was able to connect, making his heart flush and doubling to around 100,000. Pantaleo, however, was crippled to only 30,000.

Yusupov Jumps To Second Place

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In a huge pot Ramil Yusupov just knocked out Alexander Zayonts. Manig Loeser explained to us how the action went as we only saw the showdown as the players at the table erupted in amazement.

Zayonts raised to 10,000 preflop after which Zayonts three-bet to 25,000 from the big blind. Zayonts made the call and the flop brought out {7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Both players checked after which the turn, the {7-Spades}, was checked as well.

The pot didn't seem to be too interesting as Zayonts also decided to check the river. Yusupov bet 30,000 according to Loeser and now Zayonts decided to make it a little more exciting. He raised to 80,000 after which Yusupov moved all in. Zayonts had around 300,000 chips left and he made the call.

Zayonts showed {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} but that was no good against Yusupov's {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Set over set made an end to Zayonts' tournament as he laughed it of on his way to the payout desk. Yusupov is now one of the chip leaders with less than 100 players remaining.

So Long, Salvatore

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Salvatore Bonavena was all in for what looked like his last 50,000 before the flop. Alexander Helbig called and tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} which was crushing Bonavena's {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Both players paired their shared card on the {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop. The {7-Diamonds} fell on fourth street and Bonavena needed to catch one of the remaining tens to stay alive in the tournament. Unfortunately for Bonavena, the river paired his opponent with the {J-Clubs} and he was sent to the payout area.

Flush No Good for Pantaleo

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Giuseppe Pantaleo made a flush in a hand against Age Spets but it wasn't good enough and he busted.

The German was in early position and moved all in for his last 33,500. The action folded around to Spets in the big blind and he procrastinated over his decision. Pantaleo offered to help him make up his mind but the dealer stopped Spets revealing his hand. Spets made up his own mind to call.

Pantaleo: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Spets: {j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The dealer quickly dealt a {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} board. The board came so quickly that the dealer and some players saw Pantaleo's flush before Spet's full house. The correction was made and off went a not so happy Pantaleo.

Irina Batorevich: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Roller Coaster Reijmer

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Daniel Reijmer opened for a raise, Robert Haigh three-bet jammed for 56,000 near the button, and Reijmer called.

Reijmer: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Haigh: {j-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {7-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop gave Haigh a pair of tens, and it was all over when the {j-Diamonds} turned. A meaningless {6-Hearts} completed the board, and Haigh doubled to 120,000 chips.

Reijmer dropped down to 310,000.

Busquet Wins an Unorthodox Race

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Olivier Busquet (Day 1b)
Olivier Busquet (Day 1b)

Oleksii Khoroshenin opened to 11,500 from early position, Olivier Busquet called in the small blind, and Rameev Sergey moved all in for around 100,000 chips from the big blind. Khoroshenin quickly folded, and Busquet instantly announced call, turning over {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Sergey showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}, and Busquet winced at the sight of the over cards. The {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop didn't change much, but the {9-Diamonds} on the turn gave Sergey two extra outs to make a straight. A repeat ten - the {10-Hearts} - completed the board, and Sergey was eliminated.

"You didn't want to make a set," a player told Busquet after the hand.

"I didn't want it to be a race," Busquet returned.
