ElkY Flying Off the Handle

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

With the board reading {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{Q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved all in against two players, one of them, Martin Handle, made the call.

Grospellier: {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Handle: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

This doubled up the Frenchman to 60,000 and he then doubled up again, eliminating Handle soon after with K-5 against A-J after all the chips went in on the river of a K-A-5-4-5 board.

*That* Vanessa Rousso Bluff…In Her Own Words

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso

Yesterday, in front of the EPT Live cameras, the Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso pulled off a sensational bluff against Tim Reilly, apparently getting him to fold trip jacks after representing precisely pocket kings. "If you show a bluff, I will be impressed," Reilly said at the time, which prompted Rousso to show an off-suit five. (It didn't connect at all.)

PokerStars Blog caught up with Rousso earlier in the day to listen to her thinking at all stages. You can watch the hand again and then listen to Rousso's rationale. It is quite the explanation.

Vesialou Empties Clip on Tompkins

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Aliaksei Vesialou has just emptied the clip on Jason Tompkins and it forced the Irishman to fold.

On a {7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, Vesialou bet 1,600 and Tompkins called. The {5-Clubs} turn was greeted with a 3,000 bet from Vesialou and another call from Tompkins. The flush completing {3-Hearts} fell on the river and Vesialou moved all in for 12,400 and Tompkins let his hand go.

Cailly Forces Petroli to Fold a Boat

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Lucille Cailly has just shown her table that she is not to be messed with by making a move with just eight-high on a double paired, flushed board!

Alain Goldberg got the hand started with a raise to 1,000 from UTG+1. Cailly called the raise a couple of seats along, Jean Pierre Petroli called on the button and Kevin MacPhee called from the big blind.

The {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Spades} flop was checked to Cailly and she bet 2,600. Petroli raised this bet to 6,025. MacPhee and Goldberg folded but Cailly called. The turn was the {J-Diamonds} and both players checked. The river brought the {9-Spades} into play, putting a potential flush out there and double pairing the board!

Cailly stood from her chair in order to get a better view of Petroli's remaining chips, sat back down and bet 21,000. This was for around half of Petroli's stack and her own, essentially saying she was calling a shove. After six long minutes, Petroli reluctantly folded pocket fives face up and was shown {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for his troubles!

Boeree, MacPhee Bust Almost Simultaneously

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Today it's mostly been Liv and let die.
Today it's mostly been Liv and let die.

Liv Boeree has hadn't the best of days, what with battling food poisoning as well as a fairly crazy table. The Team PokerStars Pro had bet the flop of A-A-9 with ace-jack in her hand and called all in on the king turn only to find her opponent having caught a full house with pocket kings. There was no redraw for her and she went immediately to rail Kevin MacPhee who was embroiled in his own hand.

MacPhee had opened to 1,200 preflop with Lucille Cailly flat-calling on the button, Jean Pierre Petroli squeezed to 4,100 from the blinds but MacPhee four-bet to 10,700. Cailly got out of the way and after about a minute's thought, Petroli made it 26,000.

Former EPT Berlin winner MacPhee sighed, knowing he was committed and put his chips in the middle as did the Frenchman.

MacPhee: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Petroli: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board came an aceless {5-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and the couple exited to the rail together.

The 200k man

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Philippe Boucher has become the first player at EPT Deauville to break the 200,000-chip barrier.

He opened the pot from mid position and was called in one spot before the colourful character of Johan Guilbert squeezed to 2,875 from the cut-off. Boucher stared him down and put in a chunky four-bet to 8,000. The player sandwiched between them folded and Guilbert called.

The flop was revealed as {2-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was dealt as {6-Clubs} and Boucher bet 8,000.

Guilbert sat there behind the ski goggles he's wearing and tanked. Sometimes a man needs to free himself and think without the restraint of goggles though. Guilbert must've agreed and he took them off to reveal a pair of sunglasses underneath! Time was passing by and Guilbert must've known that as he does wear two watches. Eventually he open-folded {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and said to himself, "Good fold, Johan!"
