Bubble Looming

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

It's all getting very tense here in Deauville, we're down to just 123 players. Each hand is taking a little more time as the short stacks dwell just that fraction longer.

The Old Suckout Re-Suckout

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Mikael Bilan has just been put through the emotional wringer here in Deauville, thanks to the old suckout re-suckout!

Bilan open-shoved from middle position and Kevin Miannay decided to look him up. Bilan turned over {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Miannay was trailing with the {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. Miannay took the lead on the {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, flopping top pair and a flush draw for good measure. Bilan looked sick but his demeanour soon changed when the {Q-Spades} improved him to a straight. Despite pleas for a club the dealer put the {A-Diamonds} on the river and a delighted Bilan gave a fist-pump before stacking his chips.

Rat Man Gets Lucky to Survive

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The champion from two seasons ago, Lucien Cohen, is still in with a chance of a historical double after he got lucky to survive.

He was all with {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and dominated by Noel Gaens' {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. The Parisian had a face like thunder as the board ran out {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. That was until the river made him a Broadway straight and all of a sudden his mood changed.

"The rat, the rat!" he shouted whilst pointing at his plastic pet rat, "Thank you very much!"

Blain's Stack Disappears

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The hand that ousted Dermot Blain just a few spots off the money was somewhat of a cooler.

He was in the big blind with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and faced a cut-off raise from Hugo Pingray. The Irishman shoved for 65,000 and was snapped called by Pingray holding {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

The board ran {6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Blain wished his table mates good luck and left.
