Hakim Turns the Screw

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Jeffrey Hakim
Jeffrey Hakim

Eilert Eilertsen is the last remaining Norwegian in the event but he was just put through the wringer by Jeffrey Hakim. With around 600,000 already in the pot, Eilertsen checked the turn of a {Q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} board only for Hakim to set him all in.

Eilertsen took several minutes in seeming prolonged agony but eventually opted for a fold.

The Huntly Becomes the Hunted

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Cyril Andre
Cyril Andre

Gordon Huntly raised to 60,000 from the button and Cyril Andre made it 160,000 in the small blind, Huntly responded by quickly flicking in the extra 100,000 chips.

Both players checked the {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop before Huntly bet 150,000 after the Frenchman also checked the {6-Clubs} turn. It went check-check again on the river and Huntly was forced to show {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} but Andre's {K-Spades}{J-Clubs} scooped the pot.

Petroli Doubles Through Guiglini

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Jean Pierre Petroli just earned a big double-up on the feature table thanks to a fortunate river card.

All in before the flop with ace-queen against Guiglini's pocket tens, the board brought three low cards and a king through the turn, but a river Q paired Petroli's hand to win him the pot.

Matthieu Herve Eliminated in 19th Place (€23,000)

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Matthieu Herve - 19th place
Matthieu Herve - 19th place

Matthieu Herve's EPT Deauville Main Event run has come to an end in 19th place following two successive hands that saw him first lose most of his stack, then be eliminated shortly thereafter.

In the first hand Herve was up against an all-in Yury Gulyy, the pair vying from the blinds for an approximately 1 million-chip pot. Gulyy had {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Herve {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, and when the community cards came {5-Spades}{J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts} Herve was down to just 66,000 chips.

Herve open-raised all in from the button on the next hand with {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} and Robert Romeo called the extra few chips from the big blind with {K-Spades}{9-Spades}. That board rolled out {K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, and Herve wished all good luck before departing.

Kalfon Catches, Survives

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Franck Kalfon was just now all in and at risk in a blind-against-blind situation versus his fellow Frenchman, the chip leader Remi Castaignon.

Castaignon had the preflop edge with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} versus Kalfon's {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, but the flop came {7-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts} to pair Kalfon's seven and put him in front. Having been standing, he gradually retook his seat as the {9-Clubs} turn and {9-Diamonds} river were dealt, having earned a double-up and the preservation of his tourney life.

Walid Says Whew

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Walid Bou Habib just open-raised all in for his last 370,000 or so from middle position, and when it folded back around to Robert Romeo in the big blind he folded his hand, showing the {A-Hearts} before pushing his cards dealerward.

Habib wiped his forehead with the back of his hand in response, holding his cards in his hand so all could see the {A-Clubs} as he did.
