Selbst Slowed Down

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst had three-bet an initial open to 1,200 against Bruno Pereira but the Brazilian called to see a {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{Q-Hearts} flop. The latter then called another 1,200 before the {3-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river were checked down.

Selbst declared "Ace-high," but Pereira flipped {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} to win this pot.

Old Gun and Young Gun

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad

Konstantin Puchkov opened from middle position, PokerStars qualifier Anatoly Chen called on the big blind and this brought Annette Obrestad into the debate from the big blind.

Flop: {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {3-Spades}

Puchkov is allowed to c-bet. He made it 1,025 and both players made the call.

Turn: {5-Diamonds}

This time it’s Obrestad looking to stir things up with a 2,500 lead; Puchkov called and Chen folded. That ended the action as both players checked at the sight of the {3-Diamonds} on the river. Obrestad was first to turn her cards over and showed {10-Diamonds} {9-Spades} for the bag of bones, and the pot went the way of Puchkov when he showed {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}.

Jorgensen Back to Business

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Theo Jorgensen has seen a few too many bullets for his liking lately, but just as his last unfortunate encounter, the Team PokerStars Pro beat the odds.

He was battling with Matthew Mckenzie and the two had made it to the turn when the board read {2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Mckenzie check-called a 3,200 bet before he did the same for 4,000 on the {8-Clubs} river.

Jorgensen opened {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for a flopped set. Mckenzie gave a knowing smile and opened {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}.

Berglund Takes The Bait

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Vanessa Selbst opened to 350 on the button, Lukas Berglund calls in the small blind, as does the PokerStars qualifier Georgios Theodorou. The action checks through to the river on a board of {J-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} and it’s Selbst who throws the line into the water with a cheeky little 500 bet. Berglund takes the bait and folds when Selbst shows {10-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}.

Good Rizz-Sult for Diaz

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

What looks to be one of the first exits is that of PokerStars qualifier Roberto Rizza, whose entire stack went in on a {K-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades} flop against Adrian Diaz' {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Rizza was in big trouble with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and couldn't spike an ace on either the {3-Hearts} turn or {7-Spades} river meaning the Italian was eliminated as a result.

Decent Pot for Foltyn

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

PokerStars qualifier Paul Foltyn fired out a bet of 600 on a {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop against fellow qualifier Marcelo Batalha Sparano. The Brazilian raised to 1,600 and after a couple of minutes thought, Foltyn made the call.

The {6-Hearts} came on the turn, Foltyn checked and Sparano quickly bet 3,000. Foltyn called again after some more thought to see the {J-Hearts} on the river where he checked a third time. Sparano quickly checked behind and showed {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} but it was no good against the Englishman's {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.
