With 21 players remaining, the tournament is on halt for 15 minutes.

Gruissem Doubles vs Ivey

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Philipp Gruissem
Philipp Gruissem

Phil Ivey and Isaac Hakton have a bet on the number of players who make it to the break which is in less than 10 minutes. There are currently 21 left which Haxton has and Ivey has 20. “Everything else is a push.” Haxton explained.

Phil Ivey opened with a large bet of 125,000 from early position and sat to his left with not much more was Philipp Gruissem who saw the funny side after looking at his cards and moved all in.

It folded round to Ivey who put in the extra and they turned over their cards.

Ivey had {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} against the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} of Gruissem. The flop was {3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}. “Free roll.” said Gruissem, and when the turn {9-Hearts} hit, “Come on.” The river duly delivered the {j-Spades} flush for Gruissem who doubled up and may have cost Ivey his bet with Haxton.

“Unbelievable.” said Ivey. “That’s what that hand was all about.” he remarked about his bet.

Gruissem Crippled; Doubles

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

With around 200,000 in the pot and a board reading {10-Clubs}{a-Spades}{7-Spades}{a-Clubs}, Philipp Gruissem checked and Lo Shing Fung bet 130,000. Gruissem made the call and then checked once again when the {10-Diamonds} double paired the board. Fung lowered his bet to 103,000, and it enticed Gruissem to call, which left him just 82,000 back. Fung tabled the {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a full house, and it was good as Gruissem mucked.

In the very next hand, John Juanda opened for 27,000 and Gruissem moved all in from the button for 80,000 total. The blinds folded and Juanda called.

Gruissem: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Juanda: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

"Sorry Phil," Juanda warned. Fortunately for Gruissem, there was no need to apologize as the board ran out a safe {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} to give the German the double.

Slowing Down

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

It's gotten much tighter over the last ten minutes or so. There's been very little action on either of the outer tables. The biggest seen was when Phil Ivey fired a 175,000 turn bet on a board reading {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. His opponent in the hand was Dan Cates but the latter folded after thinking for about two minutes.

Busquet Gets Lucky

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Team PokerStars Online player Isaac Haxton opened from early position for 36,000, a slightly larger bet sizing than the standard table open in recent hands.

It folded round to Olivier Busquet who moved all in and was instantly called by Haxton. Busquet had found {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} in his blind but had run into the {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Haxton.

The cards ran out {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Busquets spiked his jack right off the bat and remained ahead to double up and stay in the tournament.

Bonomo Eliminated by Lei Zhou

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Justin Bonomo shoved allin under the gun for 119,000. Directly next to him it was Chun Lei Zhou who made the call. All other players quickly folded, and Bonomo got the bad news.

Chun Lei Zhou: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Justin Bonomo: {A-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades}-flop made for some "chopportunities", and the {8-Spades} on the turn gave Bonomo even more outs. The {K-Hearts} on the river wasn't one of them though, and the former champion exited the stage.

To balance the tables, none other than Daniel Negreanu made his way to the centre stage.

Yong Doubles Through Phua

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Richard Yong
Richard Yong

Team PokerStars Online's Ike Haxton raised to 24,000 preflop before Antonio Esfandiari three-bet to 60,000 in the seat next to him. Paul Phua flat-called but then Richard Yong moved all in from the blinds for 311,000.

Haxton and Esfandiari both quickly folded but Phua couldn't bring himself to give up his hand and made the call.

Phua: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Yong: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board came {3-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Yong doubled up to nearly 700,000.

"Nice hand Richard," said someone at the table.

Yong laughed, "Everybody knows how to play kings!"
