Smith Misses his Outs - Busts

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Dan Smith had 4,000 behind and was facing off against Shunu Zang over a flop reading {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. All of Smith’s chips went in and he turned over {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the up and down straight draw while Zang had the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} top pair.

The turn {k-Spades} and river {10-Spades} didn’t deliver any of Smith’s outs, and he was out.

Cody Wins a Small One

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jake Cody opened for 500 and got called by Ami Barer on the button who seems to have been in a lot of pots and his stack is dwindling.

The flop was {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Cody bet 700. Barer made the call to see the turn card {2-Spades} which they both checked. The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Cody took his time before betting 1,700.

Barer flicked his cards away with a slight giggle.

The final board read {a-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} and Team PokerStars SportStar Fatima Moreira de Melo made a bet of 1,800. Vladimir Shabalin from Russia sat thinking about it.

“You think I have an ace?” She asked. He flashed the {a-Hearts} and folded. “Oh you had the ace. I wouldn’t do that with an ace.” The pot was pushed to de Melo and her cards remained a mystery.

River Bet?

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Isaac Haxton, PokerStars Team Online, opened on the button for 500 and got called by Dylan Honeyman in the small blind and big blind Marty Mathis.

The three PokerStars players saw a flop of {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs} and all of them checked. A turn card {5-Clubs} saw Honeyman lead out, a call from Mathis and Haxton folded.

The river card was the {2-Diamonds} and both players checked. Honeyman said , “Ace.” and Mathis turned over his {A-}{8-} before quickly turning it back over again when Honeyman showed his {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

Haxton had wandered away from the table when he folded but saw the cards and asked, “Did you bet the river?”

Joining the action on the turn of a {J-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} board, Jerry Odman was thinking. He was facing a 4,500 bet from JC Alvarado - the latter having already amassed quite a stack so far in this tournament. Odman elected to make the call to see the {6-Clubs} river.

Odman took a couple of minutes before opting to check and Alvarado flicked in a bet of 14,000. The onus was back on the Swede once again and he made the call. Alvarado turned over {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and Odman nodded his head before mucking his hand.

One Chip is a Call

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

Talal Shakerchi had opened from the button and his opponent in the small blind, online qualifier Maximilian Mast from Germany, tried to raise but as he had put out one chip in it was deemed a call.

The two players saw a flop of {6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

Mast checked and Shakerchi bet two red T1000 chips. Mast pushed out a blue T5000 chip over the line and said, “Raise.” Once more the dealer explained the “one chip is a call” rule and it was deemed a call of 2,000. Mast took the blue chip back and replaced it with two reds.

The turn card was the {9-Spades} and both players checked, avoiding any unnecessary chip betting problems. When the river fell the {3-Spades} Mast pushed out a single 5,000 chip for a bet.

Shakerchi glared at his opponent for a second before making the fold.
