Grospellier Eliminated By Lodden

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Bertrand Grospellier, who was seated at the feature table all day, has just been eliminated. He was already down to just 6,500 when his last hand started.

Lodden opened the cutoff for 3,200 and Grospellier shoved allin from the button. Both blinds folded, Lodden made the call for just a tiny bit more.

Johnny Lodden: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Bertrand Grospellier: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The board din't give Grospellier any useful card with {7-Spades}{2-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts} and that was it for Grospellier. Lodden added the small pot to his already impressive stack, Grospellier shook hands with everyone at the table and made his exit.

Clements Over a Quarter of a Million

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Scott Clements
Scott Clements

The flop was reading {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}, Scott Clements and Oliver Bosch had both checked to Matias Alberto Ruzzi who bet 8,500. Maximos Pertsinidis made the call before Clements check-raised to 24,000. Interestingly, Bosch now cold-called this bet, Ruzzi and Pertsinidis both folded.

The {10-Diamonds} turn saw both players check before Clements bet 20,000 on the river. Bosch made the call and Clements showed {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a pair and a flush draw that turned into trips on the end.

Clements moved up to 260,000 while Bosch dropped to 280,000.

Nitsche All or Nothing

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Yulius Sepman opened from the button for 3,600 and when the small blind folded it was on Dominik Nitsche in the big blind.

Nitsche checked his cards a few times and moved all in for 50,000.

Sepman rubbed his forehead a few times before doing his own looking back at his cards. They were soon passed to the dealer.

The Champ Is Gone

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Steve O'Dwyer has been eliminated from the tournament. Unfortunately we missed his exit hand, but we were able to track him down. Well, it wasn't actually so much tracking down as he was standing on the rail talking to someone from the production company.

O'Dwyer told us that he had shoved his last ten big blinds in with king-nine suited. He had five opponents to overcome but wouldn't succeed in that mission.

The player on the button woke up with pocket aces and wasn't going anywhere. O'Dwyer couldn't make the suck out and had to leave the secondary feature table.

With O'Dwyer out, just Johnny Lodden is left of the eight players who made the final table here last year.

Mohsin Charania

Tom Middleton moved all in for his last 32,000 from the big blind over the top of Mohsin Charania's small blind raise. Charania called with {A-}{10-}, Middleton showed {K-}{10-} and the man they call 'Middy' couldn't hit a king to survive.

Cowboys to the Rescue for Nystrom

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Christian Nystrom was very short on chips, just 12,800 of them left and they went over the line.

Vasili Firsau made the call from his decent stack of chips and tabled {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

Nystrom may have been at risk but the {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} had come to his rescue if they could just hold.

Final board of {9-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and although Nystrom was still short he was still in.

Banwari Bests $18m Man

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Antonio Esfandiari had been entertaining the table with a few stories about Dan Bilzerian without mentioning his second name, including one where he allegedly threw someone into a swimming pool with unfortunate end results.

“Dan? Dan Smith?” asked Narendra Banwari to much hilarity as the consensus was that that particular Dan wouldn’t be throwing anybody particularly far.

Esfandiari opened for 2,600 and it was Banwari who was the only caller. “Hey Antonio, I’m playing a pot with you.” he said.

“I hope you don’t connect.” Esfandiari responded. “I don’t care, just bet big so I can fold.” Banwari shot back.

The flop was {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and a bet of 3,000 from Banwari saw Esfandiari make the fold.

Banwari showed the {10-Diamonds} and loudly declared, “It’s gonna be in the history books. I won a hand with Antonio Esfandiari the eighteen million dollar man.”
