Bottom Set for Fundaro

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

On Hand #101 of the final table, Giacomo Fundaro opened with a raise on the button holding the {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Andrea Benelli opted to three-bet to 400,000 from the small blind. The big folded, Fundaro called, and the flop came down {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{4-Hearts}.

Benelli continued for 400,000, and Fundaro decided just to smooth call. When the {J-Hearts} appeared on the turn, Benelli shut down with a check and then folded when Fundaro moved all in.

Good River for Benelli

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

Andrea Benelli raised from the button holding {k-}{q-} and Team PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren Mitchell flatted from the small blind with {a-}{10-}. The {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop saw Coren check-call a bet of 165,000, and then both players checked the {8-Spades} turn. When the {Q-Hearts} peeled off on the river, Coren Mitchell led out for 300,000 and Benelli called with his rivered two pair.

Benelli Folds

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

For the second time in a row, Jordan Westmorland three-betted Andrea Benelli. The first time Benelli called but folded to the c-bet, this time Westmorland needed a second bullet to get his opponent to fold.

Benelli opened for 160,000 under the gun with {A-Spades}{4-Spades}. Westmorland made it 385,000 with {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} in the small blind. The big blind folded, Benelli made the call.

{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} on the flop and Westmorland made a 325,000 bet. Benelli called and the turn was the {Q-Spades}. Both players now played the same hand (sixes, nine, queen and the ace) so it was a split pot would it come to show down like that.

Westmorland made sure he didn't need to chop it though, he bet 700,000 and Benelli folded.

The Daily EPT10 Player of the Year Update for 4-20-14

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

The European Poker Tour Season 10 Player of the Year race is on, and as we've mentioned before it was a heated affair between current leader Ole Schemion and Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst. However, that race may over as Schemion took down the the EPT10 Sanremo €10,000 High Roller earlier today. Once that win is reflected on the leaderboard, the 21-year-old German may be too far out in front for anyone to catch, but who knows what will happen in Monte Carlo.

As you know players have been accumulating points in all events throughout Season 10, regardless of the buy-in level. In addition, all of the Festival Events (Estrellas, UKIPT, Eureka, FPS, IPT) that combine with an EPT tour stop have been eligible for Player of the Year points. The winner of this season’s award will walk away with €50,000 in Main Event buy-ins, good for any PokerStars or Full Tilt sponsored event.

The Global Poker Index (GPI) points formula, which will be used to determine the EPT10 POY, is a bit complicated, but you can read about all the details here.

Since yesterday, the only changes were than both Schemion and Vanessa Selbst added to their totals, while Stephen Chidwick cracked the top ten and pushed Jose Carlos Garcia out of it.

Here are the current top ten on the EPT10 POY Leaderboard:

Westmorland Gets Away

Level 29 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

With 430,000 in the pot and a flop of {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}, Jordan Westmorland checked from the big blind with the {j-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Giacomo Fundaro bet from the under-the-gun position holding the {a-Spades}{j-Spades}. Westmorland made the call, the dealer burned and turned the {7-Spades}, and both players checked.

Westmorland checked for a third time when the river brought another spade, and Fundaro, who already had the flush, bet a modest 315,000. Westmorland looked as if he wanted to call with his ten, but he managed to find the fold button.
