Barbero Crippled Just Before The End

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Nacho Barbero
Nacho Barbero

In one of the last hands of the day, Nacho Barbero has been reduced to only 13,400 chips. He open raised to 1,500 and Juri Mereu three-bet to 2,850 before Barbero clicked it back to 7,500.

Mereu called to see the {J-}{9-}{2-} flop. The 7,100 continuation bet from the Argentinian was called before his opponent check-raised the turn {4-} and was all-in for 58,000.

Barbero had already invested 16,000 and made the call with his kings, but Mereu had that crushed with nines for the flopped set,

The river blanked and that was a rather brutal end of Day 1B for the PokerStars Team Pro,

Some End-of-the-Night Eliminations

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

[Removed:17] Emerges As Chipleader

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

In one of the last hands of the night, [Removed:17] opened the action from under the gun and got one caller before Grzegorz Grochulski three-bet to 3,200. Yan and the cold caller called to see the {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop. Yan bet 4,000 and only Grochulski called to see the {K-Hearts} turn. There, Yan check-called 9,000 and then called 14,000 on the {9-Diamonds} river to claim the pot with {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. He is most likely our current chip leader.

"How did you get up there?" I asked. "Well, it wasn't a skill thing. I just hit everything on this table," Yan replied. Must be nice.

Nice Pot for Coren Near the End of Day

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Victoria Coren
Victoria Coren

Vicky Coren was UTG+1 and had reached the turn on a board showing [{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades} against her opponent, who had position, Sylvain Loosli from France.

Coren bet 5,000 and faced a raise to 15,000 from Loosli. She pondered for a moment and flicked in the call. The river was the {7-Spades} and now Coren bet 20,000, effectively most of her stack and Loosli's.

Loosli thought it over before just making the call. He mucked and sighed when he saw Coren’s {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for the rivered straight.

After a preflop raise from Nacho Barbero, the button and the big blind call to see the {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs} flop. The action checked to Mario Vojvoda on the button and he bet 3,000, the big blind called. Barbero reraised to 8,000 and only Vojvoda called that. On the {6-Clubs} both players checked and then Barbero led the {j-Spades} river for 16,000. Vojvoda tanked for about two minutes before releasing his cards and then asked his opponent, "Would you have liked a call?". Barbero grinned back, "Yeah."
