Kitai Gets Some From Cates

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Daniel Cates
Daniel Cates

Daniel Cates raised under the gun for 800 and got called by Davidi Kitai in early position, Marc-Andre Ladouceur on the button and Jack Salter in the big blind. The flop was

{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Cates checked.

Unfortunately Cates checked out of turn but claimed he couldn’t see that Salter in the big blind hand cards as he had his hands over them. The dealer asked Salter to make sure his cards were on show and play resumed.

Salter checked, Cates checked and Kitai bet 1,800. It folded round to Cates who made the call. The turn card was the {8-Diamonds}. Cates checked and then called a bet of 3,800 from Kitai. The river card {6-Clubs} saw Cates check fold to a bet of 10,000 from Kitai.
They both then tried to guess each other hands, Cates reasoning that it was only fair Kitai tell him his cards as he won the pot. Cates finished with “I had nothing.”

Team Online vs. Team Pro

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

With around 25,000 in the pot and a board reading {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Team Online's Marc-Andre Ladouceur bet a hefty 16,500 from the big blind into PokerStars Team Pro Theo Jorgensen on the button.

"Hmmm?" Jorgensen hummed. He then broke down his stack and played with his chips for nearly a minute before dropping in a call.

Ladouceur confidently rolled over the {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}, and it was good as Jorgensen simply shook his head up and down and then sent his own cards to the muck.

Stack to Pot Size Ratio Puzzle for Kitai

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Davidi Kitai and Ihar Soika were facing off in a pot and had reached the turn with the board showing {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. Soika had checked from the small blind and Kitai bet 6,600. Soika made the call.

The river was the {a-Spades} and again Soika checked. Kitai mused on what to do. There was about 25,000 in the pot and both he and his opponent had about the same amount behind. In the end Kitai thought better of it and checked behind, mucking when Soika showed him the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

A discussion broke out on the table as to whether the shove was the right thing to do on the river. Jack Salter thought the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} would surely have to fold, but neither player involved in the hand joined in.

There were uniforms and hardware on display around the Hofsburg Palace this morning, with armed men in berets ceremoniously lining the streets that were closed to traffic and blocked by curious tourists eager for peek. Despite rumours to the contrary, it was not for the arrival of British comedian Russell Brand, but a Serbian delegation led by their newly elected prime minister, as the PokerStars Blog reports.
