Demidov Loses Lots

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

On a {J-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades} flop Demidov checked to his opponent. Austrian player Werner Eichhorn bet 2,125 with about 12,000 behind. Demidov moved all in and Eichhorn contemplated his options. He ended up calling and he tossed his {K-Clubs}{J-Spades} to the middle of the table.

Demidov opened {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and he added he had a straight draw as Eichhorn bent over the table to see what he was up to.

The {2-Spades} on the turn took away some of Demidov's outs and the {8-Diamonds} on the river wasn't one of the cards he still had left to hit.

Demidov is now short, the Russian Team PokerStars Pro has about 14 big blinds left.

Wheeler's Chips are Smoked

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Jason Wheeler and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom each put in 2,600 preflop and took a flop of {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}. Blom was first to act and wasted little time in checking it over to Wheeler, who tossed out a bet of roughly 4,000. Blom then sprung to life with an all-in check-raise to 24,000 and Wheeler snap-called off for 23,000.

Blom: {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Wheeler: {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

Neither player had a spade, but the flop still managed to hit them both. Blom flopped the nut straight, while Wheeler hit a set. The latter player needed the board to pair in order to stay alive, and if that were to happen it'd essentially mean the swede's tournament life as he'd be left with just 1,000 in chips.

The {2-Spades} turn made it so another spade on the river would result in a chop, but that didn't happen as the {Q-Hearts} peeled off. Wheeler failed to pair the board and his night came to an end here in Level 7.

Endangered ElkY

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Two players had got to the river on a board reading {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Robert Bidlas, a live satellite qualifier from Austria had checked it over to Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Elky made a bet of 4,200. Bidlas then moved all in for around 20,000, a turn of events Elky clearly didn’t expect as he sighed deeply and shook his head. It took him a while and a shake of the head but he finally released his hand.

Trickett Trucking

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Sam Trickett seemingly went on a bit of a heater before the dinner break and tweeted that he had a stack of 80k. We swung by his table to see how he is putting those chips to use.

Ivan Neytchev opened for 1,100 and with a quick glance at his cards Trickett raised him to 3,100 from the cut-off. The blinds folded and Neytchev barely gave it a second thought before sliding his cards to the dealer.

Sam Trickett with chips is always a force to be reckoned with.

Buddiga Busted by Nasty River

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Pratyush Buddiga
Pratyush Buddiga

A preflop raising war saw Pratyush Buddiga get his stack of 32,500 all in preflop against another player, who had the bigger stack by less than a T1,000 chip.

Buddiga: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Buddiga got it in as a huge favorite, and he was looking to dodge a ten. He did so on the {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop, but the {J-Clubs} turn gave him another cards to worry about as a queen would give his opponent a Broadway straight.

The dealer burned one last time, and wouldn't you know it, she put out the {Q-Spades}. Buddiga could only shake his head and then made a beeline for the exit as the dealer verified the stacks.

Lewis Joins the Masses on the Rail

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

There have been a slew of post-dinner eliminations, and one of the fallen is EPT Vilamoura champ Toby Lewis.

It happened when a player opened for 1,100, Brendan Keenan flatted, and Lewis shipped all in for 9,325. The original raiser folded, but Keenan made the call.

Lewis: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Keenan: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

Lewis got it in good, and he held the best hand after the {6-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop paired his ten. However, Keenen picked up both straight and flush draws, the former of which he'd make when the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}. The useless {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Lewis' day came to an end here in Level 7.

Another EPT Champion Departs

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Robin Ylitalo, winner of one of two 2013 EPT London's (the other one was won by Ruben Visser), just got up from the table and made his way to the exit. Though we stood right next to the table, somehow we missed the hand and had to ask Anton Wigg what had happened.

Wigg told us Ylitalo got mixed up in a pre flop raising war where he eventually (1,125 - 2,600 - 6,300 - all in - call) pushed with {A-}{Q-}. His opponent four bet called with ace-king and was ahead.

The flop displayed a queen and for a little while it looked like Ylitalo would double. The river king spoiled that party though and he made his way out of the tournament room.

Alner Doubles

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Francesco Fama opened for 1,100, got a call from Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov and when it got round to UK PokerStars player Tom Alner in the small blind he moved all in for his last 14,800. Back on Fama, he decided to call and when Katchalov folded the two players exposed their cards. The at risk Alner tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and was racing against the {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} of Fama.

The final board read {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} giving Alner his pair and a double up.

Vamplew Squeezes

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Marco van Opzeeland opened for 1,200 and was called by [Removed:480]. It folded round to David Vamplew in the small blind who put the squeeze on with a raise and worked like a charm as his opponents folded and the chips were pushed his way.
