Cards “Squeeze Marked”

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The floor was called to table 25 to request a change of deck as one of the cards was marked. This was the fifth deck that the table would be using in under two hours. As a new deck was produced the floor explained what would happen if another card was marked.

There was no accusation that any player was deliberately marking the cards but they were being marked when a player was “squeezing”, i.e. bending the cards too much when peeking at their hole cards. This was unacceptable as it was slowing up the game and was unfair. If it happened again the floor would examine every folded hand to determine the culprit.

Brummelhuis Shows His Hand

Michiel Brummelhuis

The flop was {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and on the table lay the exposed cards of Michiel Brummelhuis {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. At the other end of the table face up was the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} of Markus Stranzinger. The floor had been called because Brummelhuis had turned over his cards and still had 5,000 chips behind, a tiny amount compared to the pot. Brummelhuis was worried that the floor would rule his hand dead.

The floor explained that the “hand is never dead.” In situations like these. If another player was still to act he may incur a penalty but it wouldn’t kill his hand. In any case it was just the two players, and the hand played out with all the chips in the middle.

The turn {10-Spades} and river {9-Spades} didn’t bring a flush for Brummelhuis and he was out.

Abdalla's Aces Give Him 100K Pot; Gluska Coolered

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

[Removed:254] was all smiles after being on the right end of a big cooler hand.

We arrived on a {7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop to see a raising way result in Ittai Gluska getting his stack of right around 60,000 all in against Abdalla.

Gluska tabled {K-}{K-} and was gutted to see Abdalla roll over the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Abdalla was fixated on the board while Gluska was looking to the heavens as if to ask the poker gods, "Why?"

The {Q-Clubs} turn was of no consequence, and neither was the {4-Spades} river. Gluska quickly collected his things and made a beeline for the door, while Abdalla was all smiles after growing his stack to right around 225k.

"You Gotta Go for It"

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Michael Telker
Michael Telker

With around 40,000 in the pot and a board reading {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}, Michael Telker bet 10,500 and Szabolcs Mayer thought for a long time before making the call from the button.

When the {8-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Telker thought for a few moments before sliding in the rest of his stack, which was a bet of around 37,000.

Mayer didn't like it and folded his hand, which prompted the talkative Telker to show his hand — the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

"Wow," Mayer said in disbelief.

Telker was all smiles before he quipped, "You gotta go for it, ya know?"
