Mantel Makes a Small Value Bet

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Ariel Mantel
Ariel Mantel

Ariel Mantel opened from under the gun to 6,100, and Byron Kaverman was the only caller from the small blind. The short-stacked Juha Helppi folded from the big blind.

Kaverman and Mantel both checked the {K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and {7-Hearts} turn. Then, Kaverman knocked on the table again after the {7-Spades} hit the board on the river. Mantel tossed in a single 5,000 chip, and Kaverman called after some thinking. Mantel showed the {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, and Kaverman mucked.

Alexander Trevallion Eliminated

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

As we walked out of the media room, we ran into a rapidly-texting Alexander Trevallion. He told us that he had opened and got three-bet by an older player on the table. He called and check-raised all in on a {10-}{9-}{7-} flop with two clubs. His opponent had bet 13,000 on the flop and called Trevallion's shove for over 50,000 with {A-}{K-}. Trevallion told us he had {K-}{J-Clubs} and he failed to improve on the turn or river.

Drinan Doubles Through Mironiuk

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Connor Drinan
Connor Drinan

On the button, Carlos Mironiuk raised to 5,700. Connor Drinan was next to act and made it 16,000 to go from the small blind. Play folded back to Mironiuk, and he announced that he was all in, having Drinan well covered. Drinan went deep into the tank, at one point asking Mironiuk why he went all in when it was for so much. Eventually, he made the call and tabled the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. Mironiuk had the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and Drinan earned the double up. He was all in for 178,100 and doubled to just about 365,000.

Mercier Busts Andre

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

At the end of the last level, Cyril Andre raised to 4,000 from the hijack seat. Jason Mercier raised to 12,700 on the button, and Andre called to see the flop come down {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. Andre checked, Mercier bet 10,300, and Andre called.

The turn was the {6-Clubs}, and Andre checked again. Mercier bet 24,200, and Andre called to see the {4-Clubs} land on the river. With the board completed, Andre moved all in for roughly 65,000. Mercier quickly called with the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} for top two pair, and Andre showed the losing {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.
