Holz Makes Miracle Escape

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

On a flop of {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs} Mustapha Kanit and Fedor Holz got their chips in. Holz was the one moving in (for 409,000) and Kanit was the one calling. Kanit had by far the best hand holding {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} as Holz showed just {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The {5-Spades} on the turn in combination with the {9-Clubs} on the river gave Holz a higher straight, and so he received the pot worth a million chips.

Luca Shoves River on Rossiter

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Ivan Luca
Ivan Luca

On a {A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop we saw Ivan Luca check-call a bet from the small blind after Jeff Rossiter had tossed in 40,000 from the big blind. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and Luca check-called another 95,000 chips.

The river was the {6-Hearts} and now Luca opted to move all in, putting Rossiter at risk. Rossiter folded and Luca took down this pot.

Nitsche Doubles His Small Stack

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded to Dominik Nitsche and he pushed all in from the button for 101,000. Big blind Carlos Mironiuk made the call holding {K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, Nitsche tabled {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. The board ran out {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and Nitsche doubled. Mironiuk shrugged upon seeing the jack on the flop but he was rich enough to shrug it off, laughing as Nitsche said "Amigo!"

Mandavia Gets Lucky vs Ivanov

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We just asked Ankush Mandavia what happened to Dmitry Ivanov, and the former explained how he sent him to the rail.

Mandia three-bet shoved after Ivanov had raised, and the Russian pro called holding pocket queens. Ivanov was all in for 140,000 and Mandavia was behind with {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. The board however brought an ace and Mandavia raked in the pot.

D'Auteuil Ousted by Buldygin

Philippe D'Auteuil
Philippe D'Auteuil

Philippe D'Auteuil had been short for quite some time before he just busted out to Viacheslav Buldygin.

D'Auteuil held {K-}{Q-} versus Buldygin's {A-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and the board brought mere blanks to send the French Canadian to the rail.

"I feel like you have sh*t," - Max Altergott

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Max Altergott
Max Altergott

Max Altergott was just put in a tough spot, and the German pro produced some great quotes as he contemplated his decision against Hassan Fares.

When we arrived on the scene the board showed {3-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Altergott had bet 90,000.

Altergott was heads up against Fares, who threw out 150,000 in 25,000-denomination chips.

This however wasn't a legal raise, and it was ruled that Fares had to make it 180,000.

"Ok, ok," Fares said, "No problem!"

Fares threw out the additional chips needed, and Altergott went into the tank.

"You know I have a king, right?" Altergott said.

"But what do you have?" Altergott continued.

During the tanking process Fares remained silent, as Altergott kept talking.

"I feel like you're bluffing, I feel like you have sh*t."

Altergott then stood up out of his seat and stared Fares right in the eyes for well over a minute.

As the German pro sat down he said, "You can decide, just tell me what to do. If you want me to call, I will call."

"I don't want to decide," Altergott said.

As Altergott finally decided to make the call he threw the chips forward and said, "Here, you can have these chips."

Altergott's read however was good, as Fares showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} for ace-high. Altergott tabled {K-Spades}{2-Hearts} for a pair of kings and he raked in this big pot.

Carlos Mironiuk Eliminated

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Carlos Mironiuk
Carlos Mironiuk

Carlos Mironiuk was one of the bigger stacks in the room not too long ago with 1.3 million, but things weren't going his way after that peek. He doubled Dominik Nitsche and also lost valuable chips to Jeff Rossiter, only to double up Alexander Trevallion not much later.

Mironiuk opened under the gun in that hand and Jeff Rossiter on the button made the call. Trevallion squeezed allin from the small blind for 195,000 and Dominik Nitsche folded his big blind. Mironiuk shoved over the top all in and Rossiter folded. Mironiuk showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} but that hand was second best, Trevallion tabled {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. The board ran out {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Trevallion doubled.

The next hand Ben Tollerene raised it up to 40,000 under the gun and action folded to Mironiuk in the big blind. The Argentinian player shoved all in for 292,000 and Tollerene called. Mironiuk showed {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} and needed to improve against his neighbors {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. Mironiuk did just that on {J-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, but the {A-Clubs} on the turn and {A-Hearts} on the river spoiled his party.

McDonald Rivers Kurganov for His Tournament Life

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The board showed {7-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} when we arrived on the scene as Igor Kurganov had a bet of 120,000 out in front of him, while Mike McDonald was all in for 295,000.

Kurganov ended up making the call and the showdown went as following.

McDonald: {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Kurganov: {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The river was the {J-Spades} and that kept McDonald alive, while Kurganov took a big hit. This hand aside Kurganov still holds the tournament chip lead.
