Lightbourne Wins Huge Flip to Climb past 200K

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Iaron Lightbourne
Iaron Lightbourne

Iaron Lightbourne has won a massive pot to climb past 200,000 chips.

The hand started with a raise to 4,300 from Vyacheslav Stoyanov in early position, then a 14,500 three-bet from Jan-Eric Schwippert a couple of seats across. A couple of folds later and the action was on Lightbourne in late position and he four-bet to 25,900. Stoyanov folded, Schwppert jammed all-in and Lightbourne called off what was 107,500 in total.

Lightbourne: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Schwippert: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts} flop was kind to Lightbourne, as was the {6-Spades} turn. The river fell {2-Spades} and Lightbourne's double was complete, knocking Schwippert down to 157,000 in the process.

Moneymaker Busts Van Til

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Long time grinder Johan van Til shoved his last 30,000 or so to the middle holding {8-Spades}{8-} and got called by Chris Moneymaker who had {A-}{Q-}. The flop came {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{2-Spades} and Van Til's flush draw was live as Moneymaker had nog spades. The off suit {Q-} on the turn and {6-} on the river were blanks and Van Til hit the rail.

Ruben Visser, who told us the details of his country mans bust out, guessed Moneymaker's stack to be around 215,000. Moneymaker himself, who's chip towers are around 50 chips high, estimated it was a little more himself. Visser plays a stack of around 85,000.

TonyBet OFC High Roller Champ Takes a Big Hit

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Maxim Panyak, fresh off his TonyBet OFC World Championship €10,000 High Roller win a few days back, had Vladimir Dobrovolskiy on the ropes, but instead a cruel turn of events saw him send over more than half his stack.

It happened when Panyak raised to 4,500 from middle position and Dobrovolskiy shoved all in for 34,100 from the hijack. Action folded back to Panyak, and he snap-called.

Dobrovolskiy: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Panyak: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

The {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop kept Panyak in the lead, but Dobrovolskiy held the only heart. Much to the dismay of Panyak, the dealer burned and turned the {4-Hearts} to five Dobrovolskiy the flush. Panyak was drawing dead and watched helplessly as the {Q-Spades} was put out on the river.

Staples Races for His Tournament Life

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jaime Staples
Jaime Staples

Bjorn Wiesler put out a big stack of chips from early position. He still kept a few thousand back, but the 30,000 or so he set out essentially declared that he was going to be all in. Action then folded to Jaime Staples in the cutoff and he opted to call off for his last 21,000. The rest of the players folded and it was off to the races.

Staples: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Wiesler: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Staples got it in good, and he held on the {9-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop, though Wiesler picked up a gutshot to go with his overs.

The {A-Clubs} turn was a dagger through Staples' heart as Wiesler took a commanding lead with a pair of aces.

Staples needed a six on the river to survive, but it was not meant to be as the {4-Clubs} bricked. Ever the ambassador, Staples made sure to shake hands with everyone at the table before departing.

De Meulder Hits Trips

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Matthias De Meulder, who started with just 37,700 today, opened the hijack for 4,600. The player on the button three bet to 12,000 and De Meulder called.

Both of them checked on {K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and the {8-Hearts} hit the turn. De Meulder bet out 14,000 and his opponent called. The river paired the board with the {K-Hearts} and De Meulder fired 22,000. His opponent called, but mucked upon seeing the Belgian Team Pro's {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

Akenhead Wins Another Pot; Nastasi Check-Raises Stars

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
James Akenhead
James Akenhead

Jacques Torbey made it 5,000 to go from early position and then called when James Akenhead three-bet to 13,800 from the cutoff. Torbey then checked the {Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades} flop, Akenhead bet 10,500 and Torbey folded.

The next hand saw Akenhead open to 3,300 in the hijack, Vitaly Lunkin called on the button, and Gaspere Nastasi called from the big blind. The action checked to the Lunkin on the {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} flop and he bet 6,200. Nastasi check-raised to 16,000 and both Akenhead and Lunkin folded their hands.
