Niklas Astedt, the man entered here on Day 2 and was responsible for the elimination of Stephen Chidwick, just met his demise.
It happened when reigning European Media Person of the Year Marc Convey opened for 2,000 from early position and the player in the hijack called. Sebastian Pauli then three-bet to 6,500 from the cutoff, and Astedt four-bet it to 15,300 from the small blind. Convey and the limper got out of the way, and Pauli opted to five-bet all in, which prompted Astedt to call off for what looked to be over 50,000.
Pauli:
Astedt:
It was a flip, but not after the flop came down to give Astedt the lead with kings. The turn meant Pauli needed one of the two remaining queens on the river to score the knockout, which is just what he did when the spiked!
Nicola Grieco raised to 1,800 from the button, Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker reraised to 5,100 from the small blind, and Grieco called.
Moneymaker then led for 3,500 on the flop, Grieco raised enough to set Moneymaker all-in or his 21,700 chips, and Moneymaker made the call. Grieco flipped over for a pair of sevens with a flush draw, with moneymaker turning over for top pair. The turn was followed by the river, both cards missing Grieco and Moneymaker is now back in business as a result.
Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree has bust during the first level of the day, France's Anthony Picault the man who sent the Brit to the rail.
Boeree open-shoved for 10,800 from early position with and Picault called from the cutoff with . The flop kept Picault's jacks in front, with the turn being as blank as blank can be. The river completed the board, and confrmed Boeree's exit from the EPT12 Prague Main Event.
Stephen Chidwick, who finished third in this event two years ago, was just eliminated from the tournament at the hands of Niklas Astedt, one of the players to register just before the start of Day 2.
It happened when Chidwick raised to 1,800 from middle position and action folded to Astedt, who defended the big blind. A flop saw Astedt check-call a bet of 3,000, and then he checked for a second time on a turn.
Chidwick bet 6,500, Astedt check-raised all in, and Chidwick called off his remaining chips with pocket queens. Unfortunately for him, Astedt had flopped a set of sevens. The river was a blank, and just like that Chidwick disappeared from the tournament.
Action was on Konstatin Puchkov on the button and he raised to 1,700. The small blind folded, but Olof Haglund had other plans and three-bet all-in for 18,000 chips. Puchkov released his hand immediately and Haglund added a few chips to his stack.
The action escaped us, but we do know Nikolaus Teichert got the last of his chips on the turn against Benjamin Garcia Rivera with a board reading .
Rivera:
Teichert:
Teichert turned top pair, but he was drawing dead as Rivera had flopped a set of eights. The meaningless was put out on the river, and Teichert wished the table luck before heading to the exit.
