There's No Stopping Chartier

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Sam Chartier
Sam Chartier

Sam Chartier began the day as the chip leader, and he's done nothing but build since then.

In a recent hand, Chartier opened for 2,700 under the gun and action folded all the way around to Gerald Karlic, who defended from the big blind. The {9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop saw Karlic check-call a bet of 3,400, and the dealer burned and turned the {A-Diamonds}.

Karlic check-called another bet, this time 5,100, and then both players checked the {9-Hearts} river. Karlic rolled over the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, but it was no good as Chartier held the {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} in the hole.

Jacks Are Good For Petersen

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Russia's Vitaly Lunkin raised to 2,500 from early position, Team PokerStars Online called in the cutoff, and Elena Stover called in the big blind. Stover checked the {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop, Lunkin bet 5,000 and only Petersen called.

Lunkin doubled his bet size to 10,000 on the {5-Hearts} turn, but Petersen stuck around. Both players checked the {8-Spades} riiver, Lunkin tabling {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Petersen {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for the best hand.

Lecomte Eliminated

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We ran into Quentin Lecomte who had just gotten up from his table. The French pro told us the details of his bust out.

Under the gun opened for 2,700 and his neighbor called. Lecomte shoved all in for 27,000 right next to him with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and action folded back around to the initial raiser. He too folded, but the first caller made the call with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} and beat out Lecomte's black tens.

Greenwood Ousted From Top-Heavy Table

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

We just ran into Lucas Greenwood who had been knocked out by Joao Vieira, and he explained to us what happened. Joao Vieira raised from the button after which Greenwood moved all in for 25,000 from the big blind holding {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Vieira called with {A-}{10-} and he took down the pot, as neither players improved on the board.

Greenwood's former table is loaded with chips, as we spotted four known players with more than 130,000 chips. The average stack right now is 77,000 chips.

Dvoress Push Goes Uncalled

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

As we arrived the board was already out and Daniel Dvoress had all of his chips in the middle. The board was {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Dvoress was all in for 16,800 from the big blind. His opponent was Benny Spindler in the cutoff and he was in the tank.

Pascal Vos, at the same table but no participant in the hand, told us Spindler had opened from the cutoff and Dvoress had called. Dvoress then had bet out on the flop and Spindler called. Both players checked the turn and Dvoress had pushed on the river.

Spindler eventually decided to fold, leaving the pot to Dvoress.

Cohen Crashes out

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Jesse Cohen has crashed out of the Main Event at the hands of Hugo Felix.

"Good luck," said Cohen's friend on the rail when he saw Cohen was all-in with {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades} versus Felix's {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}. The Poker Gods didn't take kindly to the request for well wishes and put a ten on the {4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop. The {Q-Clubs} and {2-Hearts} completed the board, and Cohen's tournament came to an abrupt end.

Moneymaker Drops Back Below 100K

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker has dropped back below 100,000 chips after a clash with Bulgaria's Slaven Popov didn't go to plan.

Popov was all-in with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and looking like he would be watching the remainder of the tournament on the sidelines as Moneymaker's {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} had him dominated. This remained true up to the turn of he {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} board, but the {Q-Spades} river gifted Popov a lifeline and knocked Moneymaker down to 90,000.
