Short Stacked Jouhkimainen Doubles Up

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Tobias Reinkemeier moved in for his last 101,000 from the hijack and Joni Jouhkimainen in the small blind tanked for a bit before committing his own short stack (57,500). Vladimir Troyanovskiy in the big blind open folded his {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

Reinkemeier tabled {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} while Jouhkimainen showed up with {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The {3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} flop favored Jouhkimainen and the {6-Diamonds} on the turn only made things better for him. The {4-Spades} on the river was a blank and the Fin doubled up.

Big Pot For Vogelsang

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

From the button, Ole Schemion opened to 12,500 and was called by his fellow German Christop Vogelsang in the small bling. The UK's Scott Margereson called from the big blind, which meant it was three-handed to the {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop. Both blinds checked to Schemion who bet 18,000, a bet that only called by Vogelsang.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds} turn, but Vogelsang bet 32,000 on the {5-Diamonds} river. Schemion called, but quickly mucked when Vogelsang turned over {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for a straight.

Juanda Chooses Diamonds for His Ride or Die

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

Joni Jouhkimainen opened for 11,500 from the hijack and was met by a three-bet to 30,000 from John Juanda in the cutoff. Sylvain Loosli then four-bet to 76,000 from the small blind, Jouhkimainen folded, and Juanda thought for a bit before making the call. When the flop came down {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Loosli led out for 42,000 and called when Juanda moved all in for approximately 260,000.

Juanda: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Loosli: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Loosli was ahead with his kings, but Juanda was drawing to diamonds, not to mention his ace. The {3-Hearts} turn was no help to the Poker Hall of Famer, and neither was the {8-Spades} river. With that, Juanda has been eliminated from the tournament.

Gieles Busts Hecklen

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Gieles, who's been battling it out for the position of chipleader with table mate Ole Schemion for quite some time now, has just knocked out Henrik Hecklen and has retaken the lead in the tournament.

Gieles opened from late position and called Hecklen's 85,000 shove. Hecklen had {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs} while Gieles was the proud owner of {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, not doing much for anyone. The {J-Clubs} on the turn gave Hecklen a flush draw which he hit on the {10-Clubs} river. His flush wasn't enough to stay alive and Gieles took it down with the rivered full house.

Muehloecker Comes Back Swinging

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Thomas Muehloecker was among the first players to hit the rail today, but he re-entered and just took a big chunk off Mike Watson's stack.

The board showed [4Kh8dJh] when Muelhoecker bet 52,500 from the big blind and Watson tanked for a while before calling from the button.

On the river the {A-Diamonds} hit and after Muehloecker bet 116,500, Watson let out a sigh. The Canadian pro tanked for quite some time, and shook his head before ultimately putting in the call by tossing a chip forward.

Muehloecker showed {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Watson mucked his cards, as he's now among the shortest stacks in the room.

Chidwick Tripped Up By Zinno

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Action folded to Stephen Chidwick on the button and he raised to 9,000. Anthony Zinno defended from the big blind, which brought about the {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop. Zinno check-called a bet of 10,000, and then both players checked the {Q-Spades} turn. When the {9-Clubs} double paired the board on the river, Zinno led out for 25,000 and Chidwick made a quick call only to muck when his opponent tabled the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for a full house.

Kanit Crushes Holz

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

Fedor Holz's tournament has been brought to an abrupt end, albeit temporarily, at the hands of High Roller guru Mustapha Kanit.

Holz fired a bet of 37,000 from the big blind on the {5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop and Kanit made the call. On the {7-Spades} turn, Holz bet again, increasing his bet size to 79,000. Kanit called this bet, although he took his time in doing so. The turn brought the {3-Hearts} into play and now Holz moved all-in for 184,000. Kanit asked for a count, was told the figure and went into the tank. A call would cost him around half of his 270,000 stack.

After around two minutes, Kanit reluctantly put his chips into the pot and called. Holz flipped over {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and immedately rose from his seat and made his way to the exits when he saw the {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} of Kanit.

Holz has now rebought and is back in the thick of the action.
