Li Loses It to Adams

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Yingui Li - eliminated
Yingui Li - eliminated

We missed the action unfold, but we do know Yingui Li got the last of his chips all in on the turn against Timothy Adams with the board reading {7-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

Li: {8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Adams: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}

Li got it in good with a flopped straight, but the {J-Diamonds} river was a dagger through his heart as Adams spiked a full house.

Jouhkimainen Bets Big

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Joni Jouhkimainen opened to 6,000 from middle position and Timothy Adams on the button three bet to 18,000. Both blinds released and Jouhkimainen made the call.

The two of them checked on {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} so the {7-Spades} was seen for free. Jouhkimainen, who was one of three players qualifying for this event late last night, bet out 28,500. Adams made the call.

The board paired again with the {9-Spades} on the river. Jouhkimainen bet a hefty 79,000 and after some deliberation Adams folded.

Big Pot Sends Kurganov to 300K

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Igor Kurganov raised to 6,000 and was called by Anton Astapau, who won his seat to this €50,000 buy-in event in a live satellite, in the next seat along. Jean-Noel Thorel reached for chips and bet 17,500 from the small blind, only to see Kurganov four-bet to 30,000. Astapau folded, but Thorel stuck around.

Both players checked the {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, with Thorel leading out for 25,500 in the {8-Spades}. Kurganov called.

Thorel checked the {10-Spades} and then folded when Kurganov fired a 45,000 bet.

Kurganov is now up to 300,000 chips while Thorel's stack is dwindling around the 100,000 mark.

Updated Chip Counts

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Here's another table of chip counts, to give a bit of perspective on who's facing who.

Updated Chip Counts

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

The following players are battling it out against each other, and unfortunately for him Thomas Muehloecker is no longer a part of the equation.

Out and In with Mike Watson

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Just before the last break, Mike Watson fell at the hands of David Peters. We missed the hand unfold, but learned some details after the fact.

What we discovered is that Watson and Peters got it all in on the turn with the board reading {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Watson had flopped a full house with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, but he was actually drawing dead as Peters had turned a bigger one with the {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}. The meaningless {3-Diamonds} was put out on the river, and Watson hit the rail.

That said, Watson opted to reenter right at the start of Level 5.

Dan Cates
Dan Cates

A couple days back, Dan "Jungleman" Cates has beaten Russian EPT regular Vladimir Troyanovskiy — who is playing in this tournament — heads up to take down the EPT12 Prague €5,000 8-Game tourney. Cates has now added another €26,675 to his total live tournament winnings of $3.2 million.

Troyanovskiy took €16,005 for second with German player Tobias Hausen finishing third for €10,670. Cates’ best live result to date came in Season 10 when he was runner-up to Dan Colman in the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final Super High Roller for €1,283,700. There were only 11 players in the Prague 8-Game, but it was a stacked field including EPT Player of the Year Dzmitry Urbanovich, Jussi Nevanlinna, Stephen Chidwick and WPT Player of the Year Anthony Zinno.
