Back-to-Back Pots for Gieles

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Luuk Gieles
Luuk Gieles

Luuk Gieles raised to 23,000 under the gun and Daniel Dvoress three-bet from the cutoff to 61,000 after which the action folded back to the Dutchman. Gieles enquired how much Dvoress had to start the hand, before announcing, "Raise."

After a while Gieles threw in 145,000 and Dvoress tanked a bit before folding.

On the very next hand Jason Mercier raised from the button to 20,000 and Gieles enquired how much his opponent started with before making the call.

The flop brought out {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades} and Gieles check-called a bet of 18,000 after which the turn brought the {K-Hearts}. Both players checked on the fourth card, and the river completed the board with the {A-Clubs}.

Gieles threw out 55,000 and Mercier gave it some thought before calling. Gieles tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Mercier aggressively mucked his cards, as he's now down to 156,000 chips.

Andres Munoz Eliminated

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Andres Munoz
Andres Munoz

Igor Kurganov opened under the gun for 25,000 and Andres Munoz was the only caller. The two of them took a flop of {5-Hearts}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and Kurganov fired 25,000 into the middle. Munoz made the call and the {Q-Spades} fell on the turn. Kurganov now checked, and called the 65,000 bet that followed.

The {5-Spades} on the river made for a double paired board and Kurganov checked again. Munoz shoved all in for about 210,000 and Kurganov instantly called by tossing in some 1,000 chips.

"Well, I guess I don't win" Munoz said as he revealed {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Kurganov tabled {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for the full house and Munoz made his exit.

Ladies Do the Trick for Thorel

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 26,000 from early position and action folded all the way around to Andres Munoz, who three-bet to 200,000 from the big blind. Thorel, who only had 209,000 total, moved all in, and Munoz called the additional 9,000.

Thorel: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Munoz: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Thorel was in prime position to double, which is just what he did after the board ran out a clean {7-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Muehloecker Gets Rid of Astapau

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Dzmitry Urbanovich opened for 28,000 from the hijack and his next door neighbor Anton Astapau moved in for 236,000 from the cutoff. The button folded but Thomas Muehloecker in the small blind was interested. He inquired about the size of the raise he was facing, and then moved in over the top himself. Urbanovich quickly released.

Anton Astapau: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Thomas Muehloecker: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

The {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{J-Spades} on the flop was still save for Astapau, but the satellite winner got hurt by the turn: {Q-Hearts}. The {5-Spades} on the river wasn't one of the outs he had left and Astapau made his exit.

Kurganov Eclipses a Million, Franczak Eliminated

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Igor Kurganov raised to 20,000 in the hijack and Piotr Franczak moved all in from the button for 106,000. Jean-Noel Thorel went into the tank for a while before folding, what he later claimed were pocket nines, and Kurganov called.

Franczak: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Kurganov: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

"Ten is coming!" Franczak yelled, but the board ran out {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and the Polish player got knocked out.

Luca Left Us

Level 10 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Ivan Luca
Ivan Luca

The action folded to Andres Munoz in the small blind, and the Spanish pro raised enough to put Argentinian Ivan Luca all in in the big blind. Luca tanked for several minutes, but ultimately he made the call.

Luca: {A-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Munoz: {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Luca hit the rail after losing with his pair of aces against Munoz’s two pair.
