Mateos Gets Through with a Shove

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Four players saw the flop of {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, but only two of them made it to the turn after Adrian Mateos check-raised and Jason Wheeler made the call. The Spaniard fired the {5-Diamonds} turn before he shoved the {8-Spades} river for what looked like 55,000. Wheeler contemplated about making the call, but eventually folded, and Mateos won the pot.

Thorel Hits Two Pair

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Felix Bleiker opened with a raise to 4,000 and was called in two spots — Kyle Frey on the button, and Jean-Noel Thorel in the big blind.

Thorel checked on the {5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop, and Bleiker made a bet of 7,700. Frey called in position, and Thorel called as well.

The Frenchman checked again on the {4-Spades} turn, and Bleiker fired another 25,000. Frey gave up, but Thorel wasn't ready to do the same. He grabbed four of his T25,000 chips and played around with them a little before tossing in just one to call.

The {2-Spades} completed the board, and Thorel slid forward another one of his T25,000 chips. Bleiker called, but mucked upon being shown {6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} by Thorel, who had turned two pair.

Wittendorff Shows It for the Fans

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Kim Wittendorff
Kim Wittendorff

Kim Wittendorff opened under the gun and was three-bet by Chance Kornuth to 12,500. Mike McDonald cold-called from the button and action moved back to Wittendorff, who put out a hefty four-bet to 49,000. Kornuth folded, but McDonald made the call and the two of them saw the {7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop dealt.

On the flop, McDonald check-called Wittendorff's bet of 45,000 before both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the turn. When the {A-Spades} river card was dealt, McDonald checked and watched as his opponent slid out 65,000.

"Not the river card I wanted!" said McDonald before he folded.

At the other end of the table, Kornuth prodded Wittendorff to "show one for the fans!" Wittendorff did when he tabled the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for king high and increased his chip stack to just under 500,000.

Akkari Mucks

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the turn of the {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} board, Anton Bertilsson bet 17,000. Andre Akkari raised to 38,500, and Bertilsson called to see the {2-Hearts} appear on the river. Bertilsson checked, and Akkari took the chance to win the pot with a bet of 44,000. However, that attempt was shut down with Bertilsson making the call. Akkari quickly mucked his cards after his bluffed failed and Bertilsson won the pot.

Small Pots for Greenwood and Luca

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

On the three-way flop of {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Philip Sternheimer checked from the big blind and Sean Winter bet 8,800 from one seat over. Ivan Luca called, and as did Sternheimer, and the {4-Diamonds} hit on the turn. The action was checked around to Luca, and he bet 18,000. Both of his opponents folded, and Luca won the pot.

In other action, Sam Greenwood took back some chips from Kim Wittendorff after Wittendorff had bluffed him big earlier. Greenwood did so by betting 26,000 on the river of the {Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} board. Wittendorff tanked and then paid off his opponent with Greenwood showing {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for top pair.

Set Over Set Between Gieles and Luca

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Preflop, blind on blind, Ivan Luca opened out of the small blind and Luuk Gieles reraised to 16,500 from the big blind. Luca called.

Together they saw a flop of {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and Luca check-called Gieles' bet of 12,000. The turn was the {q-Clubs}, and this time Luca led for 36,000, with Gieles making the call.

The river was the {a-Hearts}. Luca checked, and after a long tank Gieles opted to check behind.

Gieles showed the {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for a set of kings, and he beat the {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} that Luca held for a set of deuces. It was a case of set over set, with Gieles emerging victorious and raking in a pot of nearly 130,000 in chips.
