Luca Pays Off Kanit

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit has extended his lead by taking a big pot off Ivan Luca. The Italian raised to 33,000 and then called a three-bet to 101,000 by Luca to see a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Both players checked and Kanit then bet the {8-Hearts} turn for 135,000. Luca peeled another card and then was then confronted with a bet of 385,000 on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Luca cut out his stack carefully, then called and saw the bad news when Kanit showed {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a straight.

Carrel Cut Out

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Bryn Kenney shoved over a Charlie Carrel open and Carrel made the call, dominating Kenney's {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds} with his {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}.

But that's why they have flops, turns and rivers. Kenney got there on a {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} board to double big and leave Carrel short.

Just a few hands later, Byron Kaverman raised to 35,000, and called when Carrel shoved for 110,000.

Kaverman had {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and would triumph over Carrel's {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} when the board ran out {2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Double Your Pleasure

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Sean Winter open-shoved for 154,000 and Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier moved in behind him for 275,000.

Mustapha Kanit laughed and called with the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and was miles ahead of both Winter's {a-Spades}{4-Spades} and Mercier's {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

Kanit's domination held through a {3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades} board and two more players hit the rail.

Overbet For the Win

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

On the heads up flop {9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Byron Kaverman bet 28,000 and Bryn Kenney called before both players then checked the {7-Diamonds} turn. On the {5-Hearts} river, Kaverman bet 215,000 with just around 25,000 in yellow T-1,000 chips behind. Kenney had less than two times of that amount behind and sent his cards into the muck.

Smith Bluffs; Busts Next Hand

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

Picking up the action on the {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} turn, Christoph Vogelsang checked in the big blind and Dan Smith fired a bet worth 115,000. Vogelsang made the call and then checked again the {3-Clubs} on the river. Smith bet 307,000 for almost all of his remaining chips and that sent the German in the think tank.

A few minutes passed and Smith asked for time, but Vogelsang then called quickly after to see Smith grin and say "okay, no time," before sheepishly turning over his {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Vogelsang claimed the big pot with {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} and nodded when Smith asked him if he had been close to folding.

The very next hand, Smith shoved for his last 58,000 and John Juanda min-raised from two seats over to get everyone else out of the way.

Smith: {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Juanda: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The {6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop gave Smith some hope with the flush draw and the {5-Diamonds} turn brought a gutshot on top. Smith tossed his eight to the dealer for even more karma, but the blank {9-Spades} river sent him to the rail instead.

Newey Finds Another Double

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Paul Newey was down to 261,000, and moved all in from first position. Action folded around to Igor Kurganov and he moved in for an additional 650,000 or so. The big blind folded and Newey found out he was an underdog in the fight.

Igor Kurganov: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Paul Newey: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The flop came {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Newey shifted to pole position. The {4-Clubs} on the turn and {2-Hearts} on the river were blanks, and Newey made his double up.

There's No Stopping Him!

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ali Reza Fatehi
Ali Reza Fatehi

Ali Reza Fatehi made it 43,000, according to Max Silver about the 6th time in a row he was raising. Silver pushed all in. There was no count, but we estimated it to be 285,000. Action folded back to Fatehi and he called instantly. Silver knew he was in trouble.

Ali Reza Fatehi: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Max Silver: {A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out an {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} and Silver made his exit. He was chipleader not too long ago, but on his way to the exit right now.

Ali Bomaye!

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Stanley Choi
Stanley Choi

The Ali Reza Fatehi train keeps rolling, flattening Stanley Choi on the tracks moments ago.

Fatehi made it 45,000, and after Dan Smith called in the small blind, Choi jammed. Fatehi made the emphatic call and Smith folded.

Fatehi: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Choi: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

It was a classic race and Fatehi led the whole way, making a set on the turn and holding through the {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} board.

Juanda Fires Three Barrels

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Joining the action on the heads-up flop of {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, John Juanda bet 45,000 from the hijack and Ali Reza Fatehi called on the button after asking his opponent for the approximate stack size.

Juanda continued for another 95,000 on the {8-Diamonds} turn and Fatehi called before facing a third barrel worth 134,000 when the {J-Clubs} river hit. The Iranian double-checked his cards and then sent them into the muck.
