Greenwood Loses Some to Sammartino

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Dario Sammartino opened the action with a 7,000 button raise. Big blind Sam Greenwood was the only caller and check called 5,000 on {9-Spades}{K-Clubs}{2-Hearts} as well. The two of them checked the {9-Hearts} on the turn before the dealer placed the {10-Hearts} on the table to complete the board. Greenwood checked again, and called Sammartino's 15,500 bet. Sammartino tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Greenwood mucked.

Quoss and Bonomo Make Expensive Folds

Level 7 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Justin Bonomo as well as Fabian Quoss dropped in chips and will be under immediate pressure when the action recommences after the break.

Quoss bet the {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{K-Clubs} river for 33,000 out of the big blind and then folded to a raise to 75,000 by Salman Behbehani in the hijack.

Bonomo raised to 7,000 from under the gun and Kitson Kho called in the big blind. The flop came {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Kho check-called a continuation bet worth 8,000. On the {A-Clubs} turn, the second barrel was worth 20,000 and Kho check-called. The dealer burned and turned the {9-Diamonds} river and Kho checked for a third time.

Bonomo made it 50,000 to go and then faced the check-raise all in. After some consideration, the American folded and left himself rather short in chips.

Thorel Busts to O'Dwyer

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Jean-Noel Thorel
Jean-Noel Thorel

Jean-Noel Thorel is the first player to bust on both his two bullets, resulting in the exit of the Frenchman as only one reentry is allowed. Thorel was involved in a three-way hand to the {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop and bet 15,000 out of the big blind.

Steve O'Dwyer raised to 50,000 and the third player folded, Thorel asked the dealer for the amount and then called. On the {7-Clubs} turn, Thorel quickly check-called another bet worth 50,000 before the {9-Spades} fell on the river.

Thorel checked with about 80,000 chips behind, O'Dwyer asked him to show the stack and then shoved. The Frenchman called it off with {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} but ended up second best to the {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} of O'Dwyer.

Zhou Busts to Petrangelo

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Nick Petrangelo raised to 8,000 from middle position and Quan Zhou, sitting behind a short stack for quite some time, shoved from the small blind for what looked like 55,000. Petrangelo snap-called and had the slightly superior kicker:

Zhou: {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Petrangelo: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

The {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} flop provided no help, yet the Chinese had some chop outs on the {2-Diamonds} turn. "Nine. Jack!" he demanded from the dealer, but that remained wishful thinking with the {4-Spades} river as last community card.

Float Goes Wrong for Andronikashvili

Level 8 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On the three-way flop {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, David Peters led for 15,000 and was called by Dan Shak and Guram Andronikashvili. The {J-Clubs} turn proved to be the money card for Shak, who had flopped bottom set and Andronikashvili made top pair. A bet worth 36,000 was called before the Brit shoved, Peters let go and Shak snap-called.

Andronikashvili: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Shak: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}

The {7-Diamonds} river didn't matter anymore, as Andronikashvili was left drawing dead and covered to exit the tournament area.
