The Calamusa Story Continues

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Pierre Calamusa
Pierre Calamusa

Pierre Calamusa has been moved tables and found another decent spot to increase his stack two tables over from Celina Lin and Fatima Moreira de Melo. Calamusa opened with ace-king including the {A-Spades} and both players in the blinds called. On the {10-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-} flop, Calamusa continued for half the pot and just the opponent in the small blind check-called.

On the {6-Spades} turn, Calamusa made it 15,000 to go and was called before the {5-Spades} river gave him the nut flush. His opponent was not willing to call the huge bet of 55,000 and the pot was shipped to the Frenchman.

Sammartino Rising

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Joining the action on the {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Spades} river, Dario Sammartino was firing a bet worth 17,200 into a pot of around twice as much and table big stack Marcin Chmielewski from two seats over was pondering about his next move. The Pole eventually called and was shown {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for a flush draw that turned into top pair on the river.

Chmielewski mucked, but is still way in front of Sammartino.

No Spot Yet for Teichert

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After a raise to 2,700, three players including Albert Sebag and Nikolaus Teichert on the table of Nicolas Cardyn called to see a flop of {J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. The action was checked to Sebag and his bet of 12,000 won the pot to claim the pot and biggest stack of the table. Cardyn is not too far behind while Teichert hasn't found a spot yet.

The Home Team Takes a Hit

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier is looking for a second-chance event, and now considering the €20 media tournament on the schedule in Monaco this evening, after getting unlucky to bust out of the Main Event moments ago.

He raised it up to 2,400 with 16,500 behind and the big blind was the only caller. The big blind checked the {a-}{k-}{7-} flop with two diamonds, then shoved in after Mercier bet 4,000. Mercier called it off ahead, holding the {a-Hearts}{10-Spades} versus the {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}, and even held through the {9-Diamonds} turn.

However, the {3-Diamonds} river proved kryptonite for poker's superman, sending him to an early shower.

Ung: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
