Coulier Gets Some

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

After a raise to 3,300, the player in the hijack and Arne Coulier called to see the {J-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. Coulier bet 4,500 out of the blinds and the initial raiser folded, the hijack called. Both then checked the {6-Spades} turn and the {10-Clubs} river to see Coulier scoop the pot with {J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. While the Belgian is nicely above average, he trails two other bigger stacks at his table in Natan Chauskin and Patricio Rojas Parra.

Lew Loses Some More

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Randy Lew is still in excellent shape but just dropped a few more chips in a three-way pot against Martin Finger and Vlad Darie. The latter had just won the WPT Vienna earlier this year and then finished second in the inaugural WPT tournament of champions.

Lew bet the {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop from early position and DRIE called the 5,300, Finger check-folded out of the big blind. On the {4-Hearts} turn. Lew slowed down and checked, Darie bet 7,700 and that shut down all further action.

Lin Gets a Lucky River

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

In a four-bet hand, Celina Lin got her stack in with ace-queen and Matas Cimbolas looked her up with pocket queens. An ace appeared on the river and the PokerStars Team Pro from China doubled up. Cimbolas dropped to around 50,000 while the table big stack belongs to Fatima Moreira de Melo and Preben Stokkan.

Lew's in Great Shape, But Drops One to Sanches

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Mehmet Tezol moved all in for 11,000 and the action folded to PokerStars Team Online Randy Lew who made the call. Gerard Sanches made the call as well, and the flop brought out {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

Both Lew and Sanches checked, after which the {K-Clubs} hit on the turn.

Lew bet 11,200 on the turn and Sanches called right away, putting the {10-Clubs} on the river. This time both players checked again, and Lew showed {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}, but that lost to Sanches' {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

Tezol tabled his {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}, and he headed for the exit after coming up short.

Goulder is Gone

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Alex Goulder three-bet all in for his last 13 big blinds and initial raiser Mike Barsnick called with {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to make a flush and the ace-ten of the Brit worthless.

Fellow British poker pro Jack Salter, who had an epic heads up here in Monte-Carlo against Antonio Buonanno and eventually finished second, continues to do his thing. Whenever walking by the table, Salter was in a hand but the opponents always folded to the bets of Salter.

Fatima Moreira de Melo
Fatima Moreira de Melo

As the many short stacks fall and tables break around the room, start-of-day chip leader Albert Daher has been moved to the same table as Team PokerStars SporstStar Fatima Moreira de Melo.

And now the two are close to even in chips near the top of the leader board.

Moreira de Melo's latest move up chip count ladder, and Daher's move down, came when a third player made it 3,500 under the gun and she called in position. Daher defended his big blind and all three checked all the way down on an {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} board, until it ended up on Moreira de Melo after the river.

"Are you going to try to bluff at it?" Daher asked.

"No," she said with a smile, taking a few seconds before turning over the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}.

The under the gun raiser showed the {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Daher mucked, giving Moreira de Melo the pot.

Mark Buis Eliminated

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We ran into the Dutch qualifier in the hallway, and he didn't have any good news to share.

Buis had a great start of the day when he doubled up, but he went card dead shortly after. He got no cards and lots of action in front of him, so he got down to just 2.5 big blinds when he tried to double up.

Another shorty in front of him pushed his last 12 big blinds and Buis called it off with {K-}{7-}. His opponent had {A-}{J-} and hit an ace right of the bat. Exit for Buis.

Two Seats on 27

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Joining the action on the {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop, the action was checked to Mario Lopez and he bet 6,500. Nikolay Arzumanyan check-raised all in for 12,800 from the big blind and Igor Pihela called before Lopez wanted to reraise all in for another 15,000 on top. It was no full raise though compared to the bet and the shove of Arzumanyan and Kiryl Radzivonau asked for the floor.

It was ruled that Lopez could just call and the {9-Diamonds} came on the turn. Pihela checked, Lopez shoved and was quickly called.

Arzumanyan: {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Lopez: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Pihela: {Q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

The {10-Hearts} river blanked and the dealer announced "two seats on 27". Game over for Lopez and Arzumanyan!
