Hajiyev Takes Chips, Not Bets

Level 7 : 400/800, 100 ante

Ramin Hajiyev raised to 2,000 and Davidi Kitai called on the cutoff. Jean-Noel Thorel then made it 6,000 to go on the button and both players called. On the {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop, the action checked to Thorel and he bet 11,000. Only Hajiyev called and both then checked down the {4-Diamonds} turn and the {10-Hearts} river. Hajiyev showed {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Thorel mucked the {J-Clubs} a bit too high, one player saw it and the card was exposed.

While the hand was going on, Philipp Gruissem suggested a side bet to spice up things - giving odds on Patrick Leonard and Anthony Zinno to cash. Hajiyev asked for the details, and ultimately said no after also mentioning that Zinno were the better and more experienced player. Gruissem grinned back and replied that Leonard was playing online a lot.

Fast forward one hand, Hajiyev raised to 2,000 and Kitai called, as did Gruissem in the big blind. On the {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop, Gruissem checked. Hajiyev bet 2,700 and Kitai was the only caller. After the {7-Clubs} turn, Hajiyev continued for 5,600 and was called before his third barrel on the {4-Spades} river, worth 15,100, did the trick to force a fold from Kitai.
