Xu Gets Lucky Against Toma

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Liang Xu just got lucky with {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} up against Tsugunari Toma's {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} before the flop. The board ran out {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Xu doubled.

Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 12,000 from under the gun, and when the action folded to Sergi Reixach on the button, he moved all in.

Steve O'Dwyer gave his decision some thought from the big blind before he put his remaining 45,000 into the middle, which resulted in Thorel folding.

Sergi Reixach: {10-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Steve O'Dwyer: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

Board: {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Reixach took the lead on the flop with top pair, and there was to be no saving grace for O'Dwyer as the board completed.

O'Dwyer, who has had an extremely successful year in the High Roller events, including a second place in the first €25,000 Single-Day event earlier this week, will not be able to repeat his achievements today.

Toma Triples Up as Nemeth Departs

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Tsugunari Toma
Tsugunari Toma

Tsugunari Toma, Michael Addamo and Andras Nemeth got all their chips into the middle preflop with Toma and Nemeth both at risk.

Tsugunari Toma: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Andras Nemeth: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Michael Addamo: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Board: {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Addamo was ahead and looking to score a double knockout. Toma picked up a gutshot straight draw on the flop, and when the eight hit the turn, he got there to take the lead. Toma held on the river and secured a triple up courtesy of Addamo and Nemeth.

Nemeth was eliminated after Addamo took the side pot, but was left on just 50,000.

Carrel Cracks Aces to Double

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

The flop was down {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}, and Liang Xu checked to Charlie Carrel who bet 35,000. Xu made the call, and they saw the {8-Spades} turn.

"Ace! Ace!" exclaimed Xu before the turn was dealt, and he checked to Carrel.

"No! I have aces, trust me" said Xu as Carrel reached for betting chips and saw 45,000 put into the middle.

"Get ace-king out of there" joked Carrel, before he saw Xu raise to 100,000.

"Every time I raise, you fold," said Xu.

But Carrel wasn't going anywhere and moved all in for 183,000.

Xu wasn't happy to see Carrel make a move but he made the call after 20 seconds of thought.

Xu tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, but he was behind to Carrel's straight with {j-Spades}{10-Spades}.

"I knew that was a bad turn card," said Xu, before he saw the {q-Clubs} on the river to give Carrel the nuts.

Xu moves down to 80,000, while Carrel increases to 430,000.
