The Magical Deuce of Diamonds

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

We got there on the turn in a pot between Jose Gonzalez (big blind) and Nathan Gozlan (under the gun) with the board reading {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}.

Gonzalez checked and the dealer burned and put the {2-Diamonds} out on the river. But, Gozlan hadn't announced his action just yet and didn't seem intent on checking. He, in fact, wanted to bet.

The floor was called and ruled that the river card would be put back in the deck if Zaragoza was to call.

Gonzalez did call and the floor got the {2-Diamonds} and put it back in the deck. He scrambled all the cards, shuffled them, cut them twice, shuffled them again, cut them again, and did one last shuffle, cut, and burn before saying "You know how many times it happens, that the same card comes back?"

Well, wouldn't you know it, the {2-Diamonds} indeed fell on the river again!

The players couldn't believe it, and some jaws dropped.

Gonzalez checked and Gozland bet 6,600. Gonzalez called and saw he lost to Gozlan's {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}.

Takao Shimizu raised to 3,500 from the hijack which both Boivin, in the cutoff, and Mark Buckley, in the big blind, called.

The flop came {6-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, both Buckley and Shimizu checked. Boivin looked at the board and then his own stack before deciding to bet 2,000. Shimizu was the only one to make the call.

The turn was the {q-Diamonds}, Shimizu now check-folded to Boivin's continuation-bet of 4,700.

Full House over Full House Leaves Mooney Crippled, Paris Surging

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

We got there on the river, but Bryan Paris told us the details afterward.

Paris opened from middle position for 3,500 and John Mooney called in the hijack. Paris bet 4,000 on the {8-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and Mooney called in position before the {8-Clubs} on the turn was checked through.

The {Q-Spades} hit the river and Paris bet 25,000, the vast majority of his chips. Mooney shoved all in and Paris called right away.

John Mooney showed {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the full house, but that turned out not to be the winner as Paris tabled {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}!

Mooney, kind of shellshocked, took a picture of the board and so did Paris. Mooney then got up from the table and headed for the exit before the players at the table called him back as he still had 15,000 left to play with.

Hallaert Eliminated

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

WSOP November Niner Kenny Hallaert has been eliminated. Not too long ago, Hallaert shared the details of Ryan Riess' bust out, now it was Bryan Paris sharing Hallaert's bust out details.

According to Paris, Hallaert shoved his last eleven big blinds or so with {K-}{J-}. A player behind him called with {A-}{A-} and that was the end of it. Hallaert paired his king on the flop and turned a gutshot but the river was a blank and Hallaert exited.

Two For Farrell, One For Karakashi, None For Benelli

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Andrea Benelli raised to 3,500 from early position and was called by Niall Farrell in mid-position. Denis Karakashi three-bet to 14,800 from the cutoff and action folded back to Benelli who folded. Farrell did make the call though. They both checked through the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} on the flop to the {4-Spades} on the turn. Farrell bet 19,500 and Karakashi folded.

"Good flop..." Karakashi commented, "You always win on this flop."

The hand right after, Benelli raised to 3,500 from under the gun and Niall Farrell three-bet to 11,500 from the early position. Both Karakashi and Benelli called. They all checked through the {4-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop to see the {10-Hearts} on the turn pair the board. Benelli bet 15,500 and only Karakashi called. The river completed the board with the {q-Diamonds}, Benelli now checked for Karakashi to bet 20,000. Benelli tanked for a while and then folded. Karakashi showed his pocket tens for quads.

The three players were not done with battling each other though, the hand after that, Farrell raised to 3,500 from under the gun, Karakashi called in mid-position and so did Benelli in the big blind. They all checked through the {8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} on the flop and the {a-Hearts} on the turn to the {4-Spades} on the river. Benelli checked, Farrell bet 7,500 for both Karakashi and Benelli to fold.
