Jozonis Scores a Big Double

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Tomas Jozonis
Tomas Jozonis

A preflop raising war in a battle button versus big blind saw Tomas Jozonis open to 6,000 and Gary Miller made it 16,000 to go. Jozonis clicked it back to 36,000 only for Miller to reraise to 80,000. Jozonis moved all in for 149,500 and Miller eventually called after some consideration.

Tomas Jozonis: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Gary Miller: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Jozonis held up with his kings to more than halve Miller's stack.

Ignatov Doubles; Mamouni Doesn't

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Sam Greenwood raised to 6,000 and Smain Mamouni moved all in for 56,000. Greenwood asked for a count and called to create the following showdown.

Smain Mamouni: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Sam Greenwood: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The board came {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Greenwood's jack-high straight sent Mamouni packing.

Pavel Ignatov's shove for 19,000 was called by Nicola Grieco and the Italian tabled {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, trailing the {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts} of Ignatov. Grieco paired up on the {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop, but the {5-Hearts} turn locked up the double for Ignatov to make the {10-Spades} river a formality.

Lecomte Falls to Kolonias

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Alexandros Kolonias
Alexandros Kolonias

Alexandros Kolonias had been fairly active with his big stack and opened a lot of hands, and he just did so again for 5,500 on the button. Quentin Lecomte three-bet all in from the big blind for what appeared to be 67,000 and Kolonias snap-called.

Quentin Lecomte: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Alexandros Kolonias: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The board of {Q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} provided no help for Lecomte, instead Kolonias even improved to a full house to bust the Frenchman.

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Christopher Frank
Christopher Frank

A short-stacked Christopher Frank got dealt pocket aces and found a customer in Armando Di Giorgio, who attempted to knock out the German holding {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

Di Giorgio got there on a {9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and audibly celebrated the bad beat he just delivered. Frank made his way to the exit as 141 remain in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event.

Darie's stack Vanishes

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Vlad Darie
Vlad Darie

Vlad Darie had peaked at more than 330,000 not long ago but lost a big chunk against Brian Altman. Then, he also doubled Joe Mouawad and eventually ended up all in via three-bet shove for just 56,000 with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. Initial raiser Gary Miller called with {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and the board of {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} gave Miller trips tens.

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Several players were eliminated in quick succession to reduce the field to just 129 hopefuls and among them were Ranno Sootla, Nicola Grieco, Antonio Scalzi and Andrey Demidov. The latter got it in for just 35,500 with the {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Samy Ouellani looked him up with the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

The board came {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} and that was it for Demidov.

Toma Loses It All in Half an Hour

Level 13 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Tsugunari Toma
Tsugunari Toma

Tsugunari Toma was crusing for most of the day but within 25 minutes that all has come to a crushing halt after losing a massive pot to Dan Abouaf before bowing out to Ole Schemion.

Toma on the button raised and faced a three-bet by Abouaf in the small blind before four-betting to 46,000. Abouaf five-bet and Toma six-bet all in to see Abouaf snap-call for 205,500 in total.

Dan Abouaf: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Tsugunari Toma: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board came {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Toma was left with just 17,000. However, the Japanese chipped up shortly after before the remaining 50,000 went in preflop against a limp by Schemion. The German snap-called and the cards were turned over.

Tsugunari Toma: {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}
Ole Schemion: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and Schemion jumped out of his chair, celebrating and even high-fiving with Philipp Gruissem. He then apologized and shook hands with Toma, who left the tournament are with a smile on the face.
