Astedt First Player to Bust Twice

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante
Niklas Astedt
Niklas Astedt

Niklas Astedt was already all in and awaiting his fate while Mohamed Benih Benmetir and Dany Chidiac were still to act. Ultimately, the river of a board {A-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} was checked through and Chidiac showed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. Benmetir held {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a full house and Astedt mucked.

As per all in showdown rule, his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{X-} were exposed and the Swede became the first player to bust twice in this event.

Magott Leaves Silver Short

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante
Max Silver
Max Silver

Picking up the action on the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, Krzysztof Magott checked and Max Silver bet 6,000, which Magott called. On the {9-Hearts} turn, the second barrel of Silver was for 15,000 and again Magott check-called.

The {Q-Spades} fell on the river and Magott checked for the third time. Silver now took some time to consider the next move and then bet 30,000 for most of his stack. Magott eventually called and Silver showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{7-Spades}, which Magott had beat with {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}.

The 2017 Champion and Runner Up Join

Level 6 : 400/800, 0 ante

Alexander Petersen eventually ran out of chips, while Sam Greenwood, Lance Cordell Garcia, Konstantinos Bouloutsos, Pedro Zagalo and Sylvain Loosli all entered for the first time. Loosli and Zagalo cut a deal in heads-up in 2017 and it was Loosli that walked home with the trophy.

Petersen Left Short; Triples

Level 5 : 300/600, 0 ante

Alexander Petersen was left short and with a mountain to climb after Niklas Astedt spiked the running clubs with {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} to hit the nut flush.

Astedt then limped in first to act, as did Dany Chidiac and Jan Suchanek in the small blind. Petersen moved all in for the remainder of his short stack and Astedt raised to 10,800, Chidiac called and Suchanek folded.

"That's exactly what I wanted, now you can maybe give a little back," Petersen said to Astedt.

The flop brought {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Astedt bet 8,000, Chidiac called. On the {7-Diamonds} turn, Astedt bet 15,500 and Chidiac min-raised to 31,000, which forced a Swede.

Alexander Petersen: {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Dany Chidiac: {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Spades}{8-Spades}

The {3-Hearts} river was a blank and Petersen more than tripled with his two pair.

In the meanwhile, Fraser MacIntyre has been eliminated by Ming Juen Teoh and will likely re-enter soon.

Benmetir Chips Up Further

Level 5 : 300/600, 0 ante

Mohamed Benih Benmetir was involved in a four-way pot to the {Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} and invested 2,200 chips along with Jan Suchanek, Pim van Holsteyn and Seamus Cahill on the button. The {4-Clubs} turn was checked to Cahill and his bet of 10,000 was called by Benmetir only.

The {A-Clubs} fell on the river and Benmetir bet 30,000. Cahill gave it some thought and folded, he was shown the {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{X-} for a flush by the Frenchman.
