Reeves Shoves on Adams

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Timothy Adams raised it up in middle position and Lucas Reeves defended from the big blind. The flop came {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Reeves checked to Adams who bet 2,400. Reeves check-raised to 5,300 and Adams called.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked to the {10-Diamonds} on the river. Reeves made an overbet shove for 37,500 and Adams asked for a count. After using one of his time banks, Adams elected to fold.

"I think it would be disrespectful if I called," Adams said.

Lehr Beats Kassouf At His Own Game

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
William Kassouf
William Kassouf

Will Kassouf has been engaged in a running battle with Keith Lehr at his table since he sat down, even going so far as to try and bet whether Kassouf would still be in the tournament come 6:30 p.m.

It is currently 6:40 p.m. and the pair are still seated at the same table; no mean feat when the tournament is still growing like it is, with just over 400 entries so far on Day 1.

Kassouf opened to 2,000 at 400/800 and Keith Lehr three-bet to 4,400. It folded back to Kassouf who called.

"If you got it, you got it," said Kassouf as the flop came {5-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. He checked to Lehr who continued for 7,200.

After some standard talk from Kassouf, he folded.

"Go on," said Kassouf. "You can show queens."

Lehr did not have queens.

"Nine-high like a boss," said Lehr, and the table fell about laughing as he tabled {9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and took down the pot.

Unlucky River for Chen

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

There was a raise to 1,800 from early position and Pete Chen and Mustapha Kanit came along from the blinds. The flop came {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {a-Hearts} on the turn.

Chen led out for 3,100 which got Kanit to fold but the preflop raiser called. The river was the {q-Spades} and Chen fired out another 3,300. His opponent raised to 13,000 and Chen responded with a re-raise to 28,000. The two players quickly got all of the chips in the middle in what was likely a chop.

Unfortunately for Chen, he turned the straight with {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} while his opponent caught up on the river with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}.

No Chops Here!

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Mauro Francolini got his last chips in on a {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop against Roberto Fernandez. Both players held the same hand - ace-queen - but Francolini was behind with {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} against the {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Fernandez.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds} but the river {10-Hearts} completed Fernandez's flush and sent Francolini to the rail.

Schwartz Pays Off Yu's Boat

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Four players were still in the hand on a board reading {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Jake Schwartz took the betting lead with a bet of 2,200 in middle position. Ryan Yu called on his left along with the small blind.

The river was the {k-Diamonds} and the action checked to Yu who flicked in a bet of 5,000. The small blind folded and Schwartz looked him up. Yu turned over {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a full house and Schwartz mucked his cards.
