A full day of poker has come to an end on Day 2 of the €1,100 EPT National of the 2019 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona after ten one-hour levels of play with only 46 players remaining out of the record-breaking 4,682-entry field.

Barry McGovern has the chip lead with a stack of 7,240,000. McGovern was slowly building throughout the day and found his way to the chip lead during the last level of the night when he flopped a set of aces against’s Rui Bouquet’s set of eights, and sent Bouquet to the exit right before bagging. Closely trailing McGovern is Adam Hendrix with 7,200,000. Hendrix has an impressive poker resume with over $850,000 in total live earnings. He will be going for the best live cash of his career. Ali Chaieb rounds up the top three with 7,000,000.

Some other big names hunting the €585,500 payday include Fernando Pons (4,245,000) Vojtech Ruzicka (3,735,000), Pete Chen (2,990,000), and Michael Soyza (1,860,000). Ruzicka has over $4,000,000 in live earnings and will be looking to add another title to his resume. Soyza has been having a great summer and claimed his second biggest live score less than a month ago.

The day started at noon local time with 702 hopefuls returning to the felt to continue to battle it out and the day 2 action was fast from the start. Indeed, with so many short-stacks beginning the day, payouts were being called at every table, seemingly after every hand. By the first break, the field was cut to less than half. Some of the first players to head to the exit were Pierre Merlin (631th place - €1,790), Tony Miles (486th place - €2,010), Enrico Camosci (438th place - €2,230) and Renato Kaneoya (431th place - €2,230).

The action didn't slow down throughout most of the day and plenty of others didn’t make it to the dinner break including Ivan Gabrieli (307th place - €2,670), Ajay Gnanasambanthan (189th place - €3,310), Julien Martini (177th place - €3,780), ), Davidi Kitai (159th place - €3,780), Vadzim Lipauka (141th place - €4,270), PokerStars Ambassador Kalidou Sow (128th place - €4,270) and Sonny Franco (95th place - €5,820).

Only 76 players were still in the tournament by the dinner break including Raffaele Sorrentino, champion of the the €5,300 Main Event of the 2017 PokerStars Championship Monte-Carlo and Mario Lopez who won this event in 2015. However, they fell short from another title as they were eliminated before the last level of the night.

Day 3 of this four-day event picks up on Saturday August 24 at 12 noon at Level 28 with blinds of 40,000/80,000 with a 80,000 big blind ante. The remaining 46 players are all guaranteed a payout of €9,710, but all eyes will be on the first-place prize of €585,500, the title, and the trophy.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on the felt to provide you with all the action throughout the day.

Jose Pimentel defended out of the big blind and check-called two barrels by Mario Lopez on the {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board. Pimentel then check-shoved the river into a third barrel by Lopez, who made the call and was shown {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} by Pimentel.

Reichenstein Doubles Chilaud

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Uri Reichenstein
Uri Reichenstein

Uri Reichenstein lost a big pot to Maxime Chilaud after he three-bet preflop and fired three barrels to put a major dent into his stack.

On the {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop, Reichenstein made it 175,000 to go and was called by Chilaud before another bet of 350,000 and a call followed on the {6-Hearts} turn. The {10-Clubs} came on the river and Reichenstein jammed, Chilaud called for 980,000 with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and scored a vital double as Reichenstein only had {7-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Soon after, Reichenstein was spotted on his way out of the tournament area.

Chilaud doubled to more than two times the average and only trails Pete Chen on his table.

The Rich Get Richer

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Adam Hendrix
Adam Hendrix

Adam Hendrix raised the button and called the shove of Marc Dominguez in the big blind for around 450,000.

Marc Dominguez: {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Adam Hendrix: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The {k-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop failed to improve Dominguez and the {6-Spades} on the turn left him drawing dead, a meaningless {q-Diamonds} followed on the river.

"The rich get richer," another player at the table remarked as Hendrix moved up to more than 4 million in chips.

Kalidou Sow
Kalidou Sow

Kalidou Sow got his last 15 big blinds in preflop and was called by Ruben Garcia Blancas.

Kalidou Sow: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Ruben Garcia Blancas: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Sow had two outs or some miracle straight options to escape from elimination, but that all but changed on the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} flop when Garcia Blancas hit quads. The turn and river were a mere formality as Sow, who recorded the hand on his smartphone, waved his goodbye.

Dejan Jakovljevic

In a battle of the blinds, the flop showed {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Dejan Jakovljevic check-shoved into a bet of 30,000 by Leonard Maue. The pot until then was just 110,000 and Jakovljevic was all in for 705,000. Maue gave it some consideration and called.

Dejan Jakovljevic: {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Leonard Maue: {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs} turn and the {9-Spades} river brought no help to Jakovljevic and he sent to the rail.

Ramon Colillas
Ramon Colillas

Ramon Colillas raised from under the gun and was called by Sorin Flutur in the early position. Action folded back to Quoc Tran in the big blind who three-bet to 100,000 which was called by both Colillas and Flutur.

The flop came {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, Tran continued with a bet of 120,000 which Colillas called but Flutur didn't.

They then both checked through the {4-Hearts} on the turn to the {7-Hearts} on the river. Tran shoved and Colillas snap-called. Tran tabled {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for the pair of fours on the board with the king-kicker. Colillas held {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} for two pair to double up for the 144,000 he still had behind.
