Shuvanov Gets Sammartino to Fold

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Dario Sammartino opened to 2,500 and Dmytro Shuvanov in the cutoff made it 7,000 to go. Sammartino asked for the stack size of his opponent and made the call. On the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, Sammartino checked and called a bet of 7,000 to see the {4-Hearts} turn.

Sammartino checked once more and a second barrel worth 15,000 did the trick for Shuvanov.

Konnikova Doesn't Back Down Against Kolev

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

Maria Konnikova started things off with an open in middle position. Boris Kolev called behind on the button and Florian Duta completed his big blind.

The flop was {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Duta checked before Konnikova continued for 2,700. Kolev peeled and Duta moved aside.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and Konnikova barreled for 11,600, which Kolev called. With an already chunky pot in the middle, Konnikova bet once more, making it 45,000 to see her cards. It was enough to get a snap-fold from Kolev and The PokerStars Ambassador chips up.

Nose Survives Against Duta

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Florian Duta opened to 2,300 under the gun and got a call from the player on his direct left before Gen Nose moved all in for 16,600. Everyone else passed and when the action came back to Duta, he made the call.

Gen Nose: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Florian Duta: {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Nose was the favorite preflop and he hit huge on the {q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Spades} flop. The {8-Spades} turn brought a sweat with the flush draw but the [7d on the river was a safe card and gave Nose a full house for the double.

Francesc Davila Ausina
Francesc Davila Ausina

A few minutes before the end of the level, Eder Takashi Murata was spotted all in for 21,000 on the river of a jack-high board. Francesc Davila Ausina was his sole remaining opponent and the Spaniard eventually called.

Takashi Murata tapped the table in defeat and rolled over {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a busted flush draw. Davila Ausina had that beat with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for top pair and scored the knockout.

Battle of the Marias

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Maria Ho
Maria Ho

Maria Ho was all in and at risk for 12,300 with the {8-Spades}{7-Spades} and Maria Lampropulos called with {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}.

Ho flopped a flush draw on {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}, but the {3-Diamonds} turn and {6-Diamonds} river were blanks to send Ho to the rail. This leaves just two Marias in today's field, as Maria Konnikova is also still in contention two tables over.

Dinesh Alt

Former big stack Nick Pupillo ended up all in and at risk for 15,300 on the {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} turn and Dinesh Alt was the only opponent, who was left to act. Alt had just been moved to the table and reluctantly called.

Pupillo turned over {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Alt had that beat with the {a-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Prusov Building

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Dmitry Prusov has had a productive day so far and has just won his latest pot in a hand versus two professional players, Fatima Moreira De Melo and Paul Michaelis.

On the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Michaelis and Prusov checked to Moreira De Melo, who bet 3,500. Michaelis passed but Prusov made the call.

There was no further betting on the {q-Clubs} turn and on the {a-Spades} river, Prusov lead for 5,000. It was a fold from Moreira De Melo and Prusov added some more to his stack.
