Moreau's Big Call Sends Salter Out

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Alexandre Moreau
Alexandre Moreau

Benny Glaser opened to 4,500 first to act and was called by Alexandre Moreau and Jack Salter in the big blind. On a {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop all three players checked and Salter led the {10-Hearts} turn for 12,500, both Glaser and Moreau came along.

The {5-Clubs} followed on the river and Salter moved all in for 76,100. Glaser folded and Moreau gave it plenty of thought before making the call. Salter rolled over {q-Spades}{9-Hearts} with the words "good call" and Moreau claimed the big pot with {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for top pair.

Miara Chops and Doubles

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

David Miara moved all in for the last 7,400 and was called by big stack Tamer Kamel and Liviu Scutaru from one seat over. On a {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Kamel checked and called a bet of 15,000 by Scutaru. The {5-Clubs} turn was checked and Kamel bet ther {5-Spades} river for 15,000 to force a fold from Scutaru, who flashed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Miara had {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and chopped with Kamel's {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}. One hand later, he won a flip with sevens against the king-jack of Alexandre Reard.

Le Touche With a Monster Stack

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The chip leader after Day 1a had 607,000 towards the end of level 16 and Philippe Le Touche has surpassed that just now already with level 12 just about underway.

"Did you see the hand?" Lucas Sfez said, as he had just busted against Le Touche and explained the action. According to Sfez, who was last spotted with more than 180,000, he called a raise to 4,000 in the cutoff with {k-}{q-} and Le Touche three-bet the button to 19,000. The initial raiser and Sfez called and the flop came {q-}{7-}{2-Spades}. Action checked to Le Touche, who bet 20,000 and picked up one call.

Sfez then check-raised to 62,000 and called the shove of Le Touche with his top pair. According to Sfez, Le Touche only had {8-}{7-} but spiked an eight on the turn.

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Francois Evard
Francois Evard

As the Day 1b field is slowly but surely cut down with 261 players out of 679 entries remaining, more and more notables run out of chips. Only the top 102 will make it through to Day 2 and Francois Evard will not be among them, as are Fabio Sperling, Deborah Haddad, Felix Bleiker, Alexander Timokhin, and Jacques Guenni.
