Defending Champion Michaelis Eliminates Azor

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Paul Michaelis
Paul Michaelis

Paul Michaelis sat in early position and he raised to 900. He was called by hijack Ran Azor and the others folded. The two continued heads-up to the {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop.

Michaelis checked and Azor took over the betting when he flicked 2,000 in the middle. Michaelis quickly raised to 5,500 and Azor put his last 13,000 in the middle. Michaelis called immediately and they opened up.

Ran Azor: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Paul Michaelis: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The board completed with the {3-Clubs} on the turn and the {7-Spades} on the river and Azor was eliminated from the tournament by the defending champion of the EPT Prague Main Event.

Drews Doubles Through Richez

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Clement Richez had just lost a substantial pot to Benjamin Saada to propel his fellow countryman to the 100,000-chips mark and had now called the all-in of Oleg Drews on the button while he was in the big blind.

Oleg Drews: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Clement Richez: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for Drews to hit the turn for two pair and the double-up.

"Don't lose all the chips! I need you to give me some." Ionel Anton commented.

Chris Da-Silva immediately jumped to Richez defense and told Anton off. "Show some respect, he just lost two hands."

A small discussion followed which also ended quite soon with Anton a lot quieter now at the table.

One for Panyak

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

On a three-way flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Giorgiy Skhulukhiya checked out of the big blind and Maxim Panyak bet 2,100. Pete Chen on the button raised it up to 5,600 and Skhulukhiya, Panyak made it three ways to the {8-Spades} turn. No betting action followed and they also checked down the {4-Hearts} river.

Skhulukhiya turned over {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for two pair and a busted draw but Panyak had the superior two pair with {a-}{9-}, Chen mucked.

Sootla Runs Bad

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Ranno Sootla got into a raising war with Dan Serban Borlan and both had near-identical stacks with the former at risk for 27,000 in a battle cutoff versus big blind

Ranno Sootla: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Dan Serban Borlan: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Sootla was in prime position for a double but that all changed on the {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop as Borlan improved to a pair of aces. The {j-Diamonds} turn came a blank, as did the {2-Hearts} river, sending Sootla to the rail.
