Aleksandrov Takes the New Chip Lead Followinng Huge Clash with Zhang

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Mikhail Aleksandrov
Mikhail Aleksandrov

It is all going on here at Casino Sochi as the Main Event draws ever closer to the bubble.

Just now three players were in on the flop with {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} down. The player in the small blind checked and Mark Zhang who was in early position did the same. Mikhail Aleksandrov bet 13,000 and Zhang and the small blind called. Back on Zhang and he raised it up to 45,000, which both of his opponents called.

The turn was an action-inducing {j-Spades} and it was checked to Aleksandrov who bet 66,000. This was enough to convince the small blind to fold but Zhang wasn't done and moved all in. It was a snap from Aleksandrov and no wonder as he had the nuts at that point.

Mikhail Aleksandrov: {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Mark Zhang: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Zhang needed a king to win or a ten to chop the pot but it wasn't to be, with the dealer laying down a {7-Hearts} on the river and Aleksandrov takes a huge pot.

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Viktor Kudinov open-jammed 33,000 from the hijack and was called by Aleksandr Sheshukov.

Viktor Kudinov: {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Aleksandr Sheshukov: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Sheshukov had fallen from his peak, but was by no means at risk as the bubble approached. There were no worries for him on the {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} board and he sent Kudinov to the rail.

Semaska Takes From Yurasov and Shalamov

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

There is no doubt it is a tough table for [Removed:464], especially considering he was on a short stack. He has just elevated somewhat in the counts after taking a pot in a hand against Dmitry Yurasov and Team PokerStars Pro Online Mikhail Shalamov.

It began with a 7,500 open from Yurasov and Shalamov flatted the button. Semaska defended in the big blind and the three of them saw a {4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop. Semaska and Yurasov checked to Shalamov who put 11,000 over the line. Semaska raised to 25,000 and both Yurasov and Shalamov folded quickly.

Rollercoaster Double-Up for Tsapko

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Sergey Baburin opened to 6,000 and got one call before Vasiliy Tsapko three-bet all-in for 85,000. Baburin called and the third player in the hand folded.

Sergey Baburin: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Vasiliy Tsapko: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The flop came {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Tsapko got to his feet. The turn was the {k-Hearts} and Tsapko nodded. The river {8-Hearts} however made him sit back down and count out his chips for the dealer, spiking a two-outer to double up and leave Baburin short.

First Sign of Trouble for Denisov?

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

So far the Main Event has appeared to be plain sailing for Aleksandr Denisov, just now however, he has suffered a blow after losing with {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} against Alexsey Golubev. Golubev flopped a set with {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} on a {6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and check-called Denisov's 12,000 bet. On the {7-Diamonds} turn, he check-raised all in for 95,500 over a 19,000 barrel and Denisov thought before making a hesitant call. The river was the {k-Hearts} and Golubev got the double, whilst Denisov took the hit. He is still on 565,000, which is more than three times the average but is still a significant drop from his peak.
