Abussamra Gets River Value Out of Flopped Set

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Simon Higgins opened to 2,500 from early position and picked up two callers, Ivan Banic on the button and Elias Abussamra in the big blind. As Abussamra was calling, Higgins joked with advice.

"Oh, just let it go. [Banic] wants to win a pot against me," he said. Still, they would head there three ways.

The flop showed up monotone in the {3-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}. Abussamra checked, Higgins decided not to continuation-bet, and and Banic also checked the button.

The turn came the {k-Clubs}, once more all three players checked.

On the {7-Diamonds} river, Abussamra elected to lead for 9,000. Higgins thought for some time, then he put in the call. Banic folded.

Abussamra showed {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} for a flopped set.

" I saved myself," said Higgins, as he showed a {k-Clubs}. "I didn't think I had the best hand," he added.

Grieco Wins Piles After Fluxa Misclick

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Nicola Grieco
Nicola Grieco

Miguel Angel Fluxa opened to 2,200 in middle position. In the cutoff, Saar Wilf three-bet to 6,200. On the button, Nicola Grieco four-bet all in for 120,000. The dealer placed the all-in triangle in front of Grieco, but Grieco didn't put any chips into the pot.

Back on Fluxa, wearing full headphones, he tossed one chip worth 5,000 into the pot and said call. Wilf quickly let his cards go. WIth over 100,000 in his stack, it soon became apparent that Fluxa didn't realize Grieco had moved all in. The tournament director was called to sort the situation.

Given the dealer's clear announcing of the action, the all-in triangle in play, and action behind Fluxa after he made the call, the director ruled that the call would stand. The two players were off to an unlikely pot worth over 200 big blinds.

During the conversation, Grieco was more than willing to let Fluxa fold given the mistake, but the director handled the situation according to the action and details provided.

Miguel Angel Fluxa: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Nicola Grieco: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {2-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Fluxa couldn't overtake the dominating hand and was eliminated.

Fluxa handled the exit with grace and headed out of the tournament.

Grieco was celebratory, singing in Italian as he collected the pot. Still, he felt for Fluxa. "I'm sorry, man. If it was me, I would be ok with you folding." That may be, but it was still Grieco with the massive stack and Fluxa headed out the door.

Sitbon Gets Paid by Kim

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On a completed board of {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, there were some 28,000 in the middle. Julien Sitbon bet 22,500 and that sent newly arrived Namhyung Kim in the cutoff in the blender.

More than two minutes passed and Kim then made the call. Sitbon rolled over the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} for queens and nines with an ace-kicker, which was good enough to drag in a very healthy pot.

Grieco Among the Bigger Stacks

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

"Why don't you fold? You are crazy," Nicola Grieco vividly exclaimed after he was all-in with the mighty {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} out of the big blind. Miguel Angel Fluxa came along with the {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} as they got it in with both players having flopped bottom two pair and rivered a full house.

"You are crazy!" Fluxa exclaimed and Grieco instantly replied with an "I know" while he then loudly continued in Italian, which drew a small crowd around the table.
